Hello everyone,

I would like some advice regarding my Gmail inbox.

Since November I have started receiving hundreds of spam emails, every single day about 100-120 emails arrive, all 100% correctly filtered by Gmail but now I am starting to fear for the security of the account and I don't know if it is the case to change my email address directly.

The phenomenon continues without stopping, there was only a slight decrease, and then exploded again.

I have two-factor authentication active and I have not yet had any login attempts, but having never received even a single spam email, now this explosion makes me fear that something could happen in the future.

I have checked various accounts to which the email is associated but there have been no access violations.

Each associated account has a different password.

I have never given access to third parties to the account and only WhatsApp has access to drive to save the backup.

What do you recommend?

I really don't know whether to proceed with closing the mailbox, with all the inconveniences that this entails, or simply continue to empty the spam folder without interacting with the spam that arrives.

I await your opinion.

Thanks

So, I recently received a message that I received xxxx amount on my account, it was certainly not my bank account and I didn't click on any links and just closed my app, I told this to my friend and he said that just opening the message means all your Details are now transferred to him. Is this true? I didn't click any of the links as advised, I just opened the inbox and that's it. If it's true, what should I do now. Please help me , I have severa Paranoia and Anxiety as well and I am really worried about this.

Hi everyone,

Since yesterday, my iPhone XS has been acting strangely. The touchscreen seems to be malfunctioning—I couldn’t press anything, and the apps on my home screen started to wiggle (as if in edit mode). Then, apps were randomly selected and even deleted from the home screen without me doing anything. Restarting the phone temporarily fixed it, but the issue happened again today.

Does anyone know what might be causing this or how to fix it? Thanks!

Edit: I am more interested in knowing if this switch has considerable benefits. Is there any privacy advantage in using Signal over iMessage from a technical perspective? Thanks in advance for any clarifications on this. 😊

Edit 2: I am not going to ask any of my friends to switch. It is their choice if they want to. I don't want to make suggestions. Also, I like iMessage. I posted this because I don't want to dismiss my friend’s suggestion without a reason. I know this subreddit is a decent place to get the answer.

A friend of mine predominantly uses Signal. They have suggested that I switch. As per this friend, it is a privacy boon. How logical is this switch for me? Most of my frequent contacts are on iMessage. I use Advanced Data Protection if that adds any value to my question. I am used to iMessage because of how it integrates into my life. But I didn't want to dismiss my friend’s recommendation without putting in a thought.

I’ve decided to build a new email system that lasts a lifetime. (M, 25)

Domain: lastname.email

Mailbox: [email protected] -> Shared with family and friends -> add wife and kids should I ever have

Aliases: [email protected] -> For taxes only [email protected] -> All things related to government [email protected] -> Banking, finance and investing [email protected] -> Insurances [email protected] -> Doctor, dentist and other health related services like gym membership [email protected] -> Services e. g. car maintenance

Up until here are the addresses I will be giving out to contact me/send me information. They should not be tied to an account. Does that make sense?

Whenever possible I will order online as a guest.

For all online accounts and shopping I will use eithher Proton Pass w/ SimpleLogin or Firefox Relay. I’m not sure whether I wanna host on Proton Mail or M365.

I’m a minor (15m) and have this online friend. We’ve gotten really close and I really trust them. They’ve acted like a real person and, after checking some other profiles they have, all their information (age) has matched up. I want to show him my face and he wants to show me his. I just get scared of scams and catfishing but I don’t think this is that

Do you think it’s okay?

Edit: Im looking for a free solution, forgot to mention that .

This probably is a somewhat recurrent topic but I haven't found any relevant resources for what i need, specially recent posts , so i hope i can find the solution here.

Im looking to implement a digital calendar on my life alongside my physical calendar on a notebook, mainly to have notifications and a widget on my android phone. I also want to be able to access it on my windows computer (web or app).

I need to have different colors on the events so its easy for me what each thing is.. Encryption/privacy is also important for me. Proton has that behind the Plus paid tier, which for now i dont want to pay, maybe in the future tho. Same for Tuta.

I could use Simple Calendar Pro, which has Caldav support but i dont know of a good calendar provider that supports caldav and is encrypted (IDK if this is even possible tbh).

Im not looking to self host for now, so nextcloud is out.

I hope you can help me find good solution :)

Thanks for the help.

I have been working on simple solutions integrating quantum-resistant encryption and want to help anybody and everybody secure their data against all kinds of threats, no matter their technical savvy.

Was looking for feedback in this process and attempting to determine if a service/product would be preferred. If you're experienced in this field or interested in upgrading your file security, I would appreciate your time.

Thanks!

1 I recently installed TikTok on my GrapheneOS device and mistakenly installed it in my personal profile instead of a work profile. I’ve been using the app for two days now, and I’ve realized that my personal profile contains some sensitive information, such as Proton Mail, Proton Pass, and Simple Login. I know TikTok has been criticized for privacy concerns, so I’m wondering what specific risks I might be facing, considering the app has access to my personal profile. Can TikTok gather any of my sensitive data, and what steps should I take to mitigate these risks?

I was using chat GPT to create a story. It was a spin-off of what happened with Taylor Wilson, the kid who created a nuclear reactor in his garage. I got it to create the first part of a story. It was just for fun, something to entertain me. However when I tried to respond to the story I got error codes. Has anyone else got an error codes specifically after asking it strange questions?

I am sorry it's this is not fitting to your group, but I am new to Reddit, and don't really know how to use it.

Can government access your telegram account (even the deleted ones) once they've got your IP and Mobile number ?

Hi all, I recently set my home address in google maps. The set once and go home and work addresses. Trying to be more privacy conscious so I removed that and deleted my location history.

Is my address now forever linked to my google maps / data ?

Wish I had of read about privacy long ago !

🌟 Dear Scientists, Researchers, Scholars, and Privacy Enthusiasts, 🌟

I am thrilled to announce the pre-print of my latest research paper, now available on the International Association for Cryptologic Research (IACR) ePrint archive. 📚✨

Goal: To authenticate accurately and securely without revealing both virtual public identifiers (e.g., usernames, user IDs) and real-world identifiers (e.g., passwords, biometrics, or other secrets).

💡 Introducing COCO: A full-consensus, zero-knowledge authentication protocol designed with:

  • 🔒 Efficiency
  • 🕵️‍♂️ Unlinkability
  • Asynchrony
  • 🌐 Liveness

COCO is built on Coconut credentials—a selective disclosure, re-randomizable credential scheme—and Oblivious Pseudorandom Functions (OPRF) to ensure both privacy and scalability in distributed frameworks.

🎯 This research is part of a larger project under Statecraft Laboratories to create a privacy-first virtual space.

It’s usually just for fun, asking for fake reviews on my fanfics and then laughing at them. But a year of two ago, I’d sometimes vent on there about my family. I was 17 and couldn’t find anyone else to talk to. Stupid idea, sure. Even now, if I use it enough that it blocks me from further use like a week in and then I have to sign up, I’ll just delete it and redownload it. My question is, does data have a name to put it to if you never signed up?

Thank you for reading.

I live in a place where criticizing religion is punishable by death, let alone the fact that if i was doxxed it'll also harm my relatives since it'd be a scandal

anyway i just met that online friend who shares me similar thoughts since 3 months and i started to feel safe and comfortable when i talk to them and thought of just letting them know how i look like just as a memory since we live too far from each other

If there's no guarantee I won't send any, so I'm just asking?

Hello, I am a long time DDG App protection user. Recently I came to know about Rethink. It has so much features. I was wondering if it is worth the switch. What are the advantages and disadvantages. Does it block trackers like DDG. Most importantly is it safe to use on my device? Thanks

Hi yall, flying for the holidays and checking in for a return flight to today, and saw that the airline has a request for additional personal information under the guise of "contact tracing"? There's no human way that the government is still doing any actual meaningful contact tracing whatsoever right? Certainly not if they're not even in the state of emergency anymore and have abandoned any and all other precautionary measures or recommendations for Covid. I also noted with interest that the initiative is supposedly a cooperation between the CDC and Customs and Border Patrol (CBP), although explanatory links to both orgs' info about the practice were dead or didn't have any relevant info. Anyone have thoughts on or experience with this?

Is some actually doing something to track comments and investigate the people behind it on Dark Web?

I’ve seen criminal confessions related to ped0s confessing actual crimes they did. Not only that. But plans on making it again.

Is no one investigating these people? This is too disturbing.
