Biden is being a gentleman doing what is expected of him and accepting that the public elected a sack of shit who didn't even show up for Biden's inauguration and tried to seize the government. The point is, the public did elect the sack of shit this time, and Biden respects that. He's doing his job, no matter how hard he's gonna have to wash that hand.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (4 children)

His job is to protect the country and constitution. He's derelict of his duty.

Even if the SC hadn't given him a blank check to do whatever he wanted, his patriotic duty is to eliminate threats, of which Trump and friends are.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 day ago (2 children)

It’s his job to get the fuck out of the office because that’s what the people voted for.

I made fun of right-wing dipshits for 4 years for saying the same shit you are right now in the opposite direction.

It’s so uncanny it’s almost like it’s on purpose to make libs or progressives look as dumb as republicans.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 day ago (1 children)

It's because being "gentlemanly" by sitting back and letting this happen is the absolute pinnacle of falling victim to the paradox of intolerance. Trump has zero tolerance for democracy. Letting this traitor back into office to dismantle any hope of free and fair elections in the future is fucking stupid, and the more decorum shown to this fascist moron, the more his future actions are legitimized to the public.

It's true that refusing to hand over the office in any way is undemocratic in its own right. I can't pretend to know what the exact right answer is: the dumbass, impressionable electorate put us here by voting how it did. But smiling and shaking hands while this fuck prepares to dismantle our freedoms is so, so dumb.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 day ago (1 children)

IT’S NOT UP TO HIM. HE HAS NO CHOICE.

Whether he fakes a smile and shakes the orange fuckers hand makes no difference. He must leave. It’s what our stupid ass electorate dictated. He must now obey. That’s how this works.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

He absolutely has a choice in exactly how welcoming he wants to be

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Makes no material difference. We’re in for it either way.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

It absolutely does. Go out with a bang, not a whimper! Show the people that you wanted to fight for them! Show them what you really think of this stupid, hateful rich asshole! Have a spine! Voters' memory is short, sure, but it wouldn't be nothing! And there are vulnerable people in the interim who need to know they're not alone!

But of course this is the team that thought leaning even more conservative would win them an election. Of course they'll happily wave this in.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So, you'd be alright with slavery coming back if enough people voted for it?

The man incited an insurrection and said he'd be dictator on day one.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The man also increased his voter base across every demographic except white people this time around.

If the US wants to be fucking stupid, there’s nothing Biden can do to stop us.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

If that were true he'd have more votes. He has the same really, less of you account for population growth. In reality, a lot of people just didn't vote.

Biden will step down of course, but it is absolute nonsense that our justice system ever let it get this far with him.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago (4 children)

Now explain why Trump using violence to overthrow an election is an attempted coup, but Biden doing it is protecting the constitution.

I am all for Trump getting his shit pushed in and I wish him nothing but the worst, but don't pretend that your double standard is somehow a righteous defense of the Constitution.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Uhh. Biden hasn't never had the intention to ruin the constitution. Trump is quoted as saying or putting it in digital writing calls of terminating the constitution of truth social and being a dictator. If you can't trust someone's word as evidence to do something idk what the point of ever listening to anyone about anything.

Bidens job is to protect the constitution. Anything he did to Trump could be justified.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

So basically you're saying Biden can have a little Coup, as a treat, and your double standard doesn't bother you at all. Gotcha.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 6 hours ago

Coup? That is over throwing power and the state I dididn't say that.

Someone DID break the law, broke the constitution, and is threatening to dissolve the constitution.

Where as on the other hand they didn't do all that.

What is this double standard there is one standard and it should be applied. Turns out only one side is doing illegal shit in the presidency. Only one side broke laws. The laws should apply. Trump could serve his presidency from a jail cell but make sure the law is applied. Execution is a one of the penalties that could apply to Treason. Treason is defined in the U.S. Constitution as levying war against the U.S. or giving aid and comfort to its enemies. If the facts are true that Trump gave informants info to Russia i think we have a strong case. I don't believe in execution but what is the point of swearing to protect the constitution if you won't do it.

For election interference Trump should be in jail for 5 years. For the insurrection 10 years. And can't hold any office For advocating to overthrow the government 20 years.

Trump did this and many other things. He hasn't seen a jail cell. This isn't prosecuting political enemy it is upholding the constitution and law. A president can govern from jail in the USA. I would argue insurrection disqualified him. Not that I want it but let JD Vance in but not him

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago (1 children)

man people really lack nuance these days huh? what a black and white world you must live in.

tell me do you see any difference between walking up and punching a child vs. forcibly restraining someone trying to do the same? they're both violent though!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (1 children)

It's moreso in the fact that trumps followers were also totally convinced that the child was about to be punched. Everyone likes to think their view of the world is objective and everyone who acts against it does so fully knowing what they're doing.

That aside if any of these politicians actually cared they would've attempted to fix your election system long ago, so of course he's doing nothing.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

everyone being convinced of their subjective experience doesn't mean there's not an objective truth.

Pizzagate isn't the same as Project 2025

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

It's pretty scary that anyone would need an explanation for this.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago

Should he have given mango bastard both barrels of the ol' S-Mart special as soon as he walked in the door? Maybe. Would that have changed anything in the medium or long term? Not at all. He'd have to mow his way through half of Congress to make a dent.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

You're not wrong about the first part and the constitution, by way of how the votes came in, says Trump is the next President.

If that makes Biden derelict of his duty, however, that would be a leap because I don't think Trump has been convicted or otherwise held to account of anything that would be disqualifying.

If the sitting president can eliminate the incoming president because he believes him to be a threat then damn, were right back to where we started.

[–] [email protected] 58 points 1 day ago (9 children)

What was Biden supposed to do? Shoot him?

[–] [email protected] 45 points 1 day ago (1 children)

That would have honestly been the funniest possible thing Biden could have done as his last act as president.

Would security tackle Biden? Shoot him? Stare in shock?

[–] [email protected] 48 points 1 day ago

Official act

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 day ago

Sure, why not? America is rapidly turning into a tinderbox, Biden would at least be incredibly based if he lit the fuse. It'd certainly increase his status in the history books, because right now I imagine he'll look pretty goddamn stupid.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 day ago

Yes!! He has presidential immunity and trump is a fucking nazi!!! He sure as fuck shouldn't be friendly towards him

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Yes, he was. Trump is a clear and present threat to the country and constitution.

[–] [email protected] -1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

The majority of Americans are peachy with it, so...

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago (1 children)

If the majority of Americans were cool with enslaving black people again, would you have the same response?

It's insane to let a fascist control the country because their brainwashing campaign was successful. The entire purpose of the EC was to go against the will of the people in this exact scenario.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago

The Americans had a civil war about it. And now they are fighting to bring back slavery for all brown/black instead that only for imprisoned people. And black/brown/latinos are cool with it.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

I was thinking about if Jimmy Carter covertly got a gun and suddenly laid out Trump and Vance. What are they gonna do, send the centenarian to prison? Assume the old guy was in cahoots with the rest of the party and not just off his rocker?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Hopefully Biden farted in his own hand before shaking Trumps hand

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

“Chocolate covered pretzel?”

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

Well the meme above pisses me off, honestly, I really wish he would.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago)

Exactly, he'll have to scrub the shit off that hand but he's doing his job anyway. People have a high school sophomore attitude about everything.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Remember when Trump won the first time and all that "lock her up" bullshit evaporated. He even said nice things about Hillary after he won. Pepperidge farm remembers.

They're in the same class. They have no skin in the game. Their families and friends aren't at risk of shit, except for the excruciating decision of what to do with all that privilege they've got knowing an ex-President. That golden parachute of the lecture tour and book deals and fundraisers is always gonna be there for any career politician. Biden "tried his best" guys and that's good enough. Take solace in that as you're carted off to the blacksite.

None of these fucks are your friends.

"It's a big club, folks, and you ain't in it." - George Carlin

But yeah, I said that months ago and was downvoted for it. None of their lives are going to be affected by any of this, any of this fascism coming through. That'll be for us poors to bear, the wealthy don't hurt the wealthy. It's the only honor amongst them.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 day ago

If he did anything else it would have been undemocratic, the road to hell is paved with good intentions and all that.

[–] [email protected] 24 points 1 day ago* (last edited 1 day ago) (4 children)

Roses are red

Violets are blue

Posting memes about the "ruling class"

Won't help me or you

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago (1 children)

Why is propaganda against the ruling class not helpful?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

It accomplishes nothing. No different than propaganda against the moon.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 day ago

I wonder if Marx, Lenin et al. wrote about slacktivists

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 day ago

Yeah don't talk about them!

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 day ago

I think

Won't help me nor you
