Is my GPU faulty?
I’ve recently built a PC with an RTX 4070 Super. I connected it to an LG OLED TV via HDMI 2.1. Initially it all worked great, but after a while I noticed that very rarely the screen would flicker in random colors.
I bought another HDMI cable and it seemed to solve the issue for a few days. Then it started again. Last Friday night it quickly got worse and the flickering started happening repeatedly. It is not specific to just one game.

Some people in that post solved the issue by changing the HDMI cable. I don’t have a more expensive cable right now, but I decided to do more testing with the cables I have.
I happen to have a Samsung TV that has one HMDI 2.1 port, so I connected the PC to it, to see if there was any difference compared to LG. It worked fine with 60 Hz without VRR or HDR. Then I changed to 120 Hz and it started flickering black (not rainbow colors like the LG). If I turn HDR on, it also flickers black. It flickers even on the desktop. I tested it with two HDMI 2.1 cables with the same result.
Then I did another test: I connected the TV to the HDMI in the motherboard, turned 120 Hz and HDR on and it worked fine. It did not flicker.
I tried reinstalling the most recent Nvidia drivers with DDU. I downgraded the drivers. I made sure the cables connecting the graphics card to PSU were properly connected. The graphics card seems very well seated. The PSU has enough power for my system. Temperatures are fine (around 65 celsius for the GPU while gaming).
I’ve sent an email to the graphics card manufacturer and I am waiting for a response.
Is there any other tests worth doing before eventually sending the GPU to RMA? Is it worth buying a more expensive HDMI cable or did the test with the integrated graphics rule out the possibility that it might be a cable problem?
