Recently, I've had this experience a few times. I wasn't signed in (which is typical) and had been looking at a book. I was originally viewing the digital version and tried to switch to paperback. Prompted to sign in.

Earlier today, I was looking at some tech items, and when I went to filter reviews to a specific star rating, boom... prompted to sign in.

Never had this happen previously. If it's a newer change, it matches the really obnoxious general trend of forcing people to log in/have an account just to browse content.
