So now the goalposts are at declaring war on Mexico.

Cool cool.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Its been there awhile with these people....I wish I was kidding but they believe Mexico and other countries that way are so evil this is reasonable. Their stereotypes just seem to get more and more crazy that they believe....

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Many conservatives think that Mexico is a problem the same way they think that Native American tribes self governance is a problem. The Mexican history is that of the native Mexicans winning out over the Spanish and forming their country and many conservatives are still pissed about the Alamo because they think we should have kept going south in conquest.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Yea which is why I wish it was easier to take them down when they threaten violence to send us into a war. Since I know I can't get things done to show I'm not capable myself for that or a lot of things(the audhd panics and meltdowns are oof with his stressed I stay....). Like the fact they won't believe they're in the minority sucks 😕

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Also it's fuckin stupid because Mexico is becoming our biggest trading partner. It's beyond the pale stupidity!

DeSantis is a fucking moron.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 year ago (3 children)

He's really not, his base is dumb and he plays to them rather effectively but he's not dumb just manipulative and without morality.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (2 children)

I disagree, he’s dumb and horrible with anything that has to do with economics too. Fascism is a terrible system.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

I subscribe to the dumb-dumbs can vote for dumb-dumbs theory myself.

I agree that he manipulates his base.

He's a fucking idiot, that's not negotiable. He does too many things that do not serve the manipulation of his base that are too dumb to excuse. The meatball has no brain.

Americans are dumber than I thought.

[–] [email protected] 27 points 1 year ago

That become very obvious in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 & 2023.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Our systems are just so unbelievably broken. They gerrymander and destroy other systems to keep themselves in power and its just sick.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

We have been far too tolerant of the intolerant for far too long. This is inevitable

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Seriously....it's that whole "they came after this group and you said nothing" bc we ignored the red flags. People ignore the signs until it hits them and its too late despite those like me doing what we can(which isn't much) to fight it....

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 year ago

They're dumber because lots of them want Trump, but I wouldn't say this makes Americans as a whole dumber because very few of them support DeSantis. He's just throwing random shit out there like this at this point.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago

Many,not all.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago

American Republicans*** Don't lump me in with those assholes.

I’m sorry, why the fuck are these people allowed to be in politics? He’s openly advocating for war with our neighbor, get this fuckwad out of politics. Let him go fight a war first-hand if he’s so eager to get his dumbass killed. I feel like a requirement for getting into politics should be some sort of political “killswitch”, as soon as you start talking crazy like this, you’re out.

Goal post moving for his base. DeSantis “had to” take federal disaster relief money for the damage to his state caused by Hurricane Idiala(?) making him weak in their eyes(or so he believes). So now to appeal to/appease his sycophants he must promise the possibility of pain, poverty and destruction for those less fortunate.

[–] [email protected] 19 points 1 year ago

YOoo I guess we're so fucked up that border war and colonialism is back on the table

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)
[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nearly all of my friends are Mexican citizens that moved to the States for work or folks that have family in Mexico. Why the fuck does DeSantis think like this? Hell even the conservative Latinos in the border states couldn't support this nonsense right?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Never underestimate the stupidity of a conservative regardless of their heritage.

[–] [email protected] 18 points 1 year ago (1 children)

This is the guy who was the JAG at Gitmo during the torture debacle, right? Just checking.

He is the antithesis of ethics.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

And this should be the only thing anyone needs to dislike him.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 year ago (2 children)

It's funky to imagine that a state that was once seen as "purple", generally, would also elect someone was ragingly insane as DeSandurz.

[–] [email protected] 17 points 1 year ago (2 children)

You can thank gerrymandering and low voter turn out due to gerrymandering for that....

Tbf he's done a lot to disenfranchise those he doesn't agree with or make it harder for them to vote. All bc that side can't believe they're not popular anymore.....

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago

DeSantis is a tyrant.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago (1 children)

We shouldn’t rule out tossing DeSantis into the sun.

But has the US ruled out using missiles on desantis

Seriously though, look at the terror Ukraine has been able to accomplish inside Russia with a hell of a lot less than what Mexico has. You guys want missiles blowing shit up in San Antonio and phoenix?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

The cartels have been VERY careful keeping their violence on the Mexican side of the border, and not kidnapping Americans (usually), because there's no better way to get yourself connected to God's wifi. A war would basically throw all that out the window. The border towns like San Antonio would erupt with the same sort of cartel violence you see already in Mexico. Families of soldiers in those areas would find themselves turning into targets.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago (2 children)

That's... that's just great Ron. Hey, ya figure they might shoot back? With their army and navy that they definitely have? Dumb motherfucker.

Why does Florida have missiles?

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Outside of any in a military base, he doesn't. It was a question about if he would authorize an aerial attack if he were voted president...

That said... he's an idiot for even thinking that would be a good idea

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago

If he gets elected, Russia is going to have nuclear missles stationed in Florida for use agaisted Cuba.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Remember when the "Up the Ante" was Scott Walker saying he wanted to build a wall on the border with Canada?

Good times.....

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don't like DeSantis either but if you read the article, the question itself was loaded. I mean the headlines are a slippery slope argument

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

How would launching missiles to deal with the Mexican cartel help anyone? Yes, you might end up killing some cartel members near the border, but what happens if you end up hurting civilians that get caught in the crossfire?

There is also no guarantees the cartels won't wise up to this and just start taking and using civilians as meat shields in order to make the soldiers launching the missiles and shooting at them look bad on both sides.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I don’t think the Governor of any state has the legal power to wage war.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (3 children)

He’s running for president

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

He's polling very poorly as of right now. "Make America Florida" didn't pan out.

I wonder what the US government would do if Florida went rogue and started shooting missiles at Mexico?

I was going to visit FL in a few weeks, but now I don't feel it's even safe to visit…

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

DeSantis refuses to rule out nuking the moon.
