Jets gonna Jet. Tough break though. On the bright side he is 1-0 as the qb for the Jets, #undefeated lol.

If he needs surgery will he require his surgical team to show up unmasked? Bet after his own research he just takes some ivermectin and walks it off.

[–] [email protected] 55 points 1 year ago

Completely torn achilles tendons aren't real. He should be ashamed to be promoting a fake condition.

[–] [email protected] 55 points 1 year ago

What do those damn doctors know?! Just rub some ivermectin on it Aaron.

So he's basically an extra QB coach they paid $75M for. But if he makes Zach competent, maybe it would be worth it.

I'm a Bils fan and I'm embarrassed that Zach was the most successful QB on the field last night.

[–] [email protected] 12 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's a good point. An expensive qb coach but hey if he can turn Zach around... I'm not a Jets fan either. Just here for the chaos.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

The only problem is coaches salaries don't count towards the cap, Aaron on the other hand...

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Maybe the NFL is different from the NHL, but players on LTIR in the NHL don't count towards the cap. I have to imagine there's something similar in the NFL.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Nope. Anything you pay (except one year veteran minimum deals that get an exception to be counted at a slightly lower number) hits the cap.

You can manipulate timing with contract structure, but there is no way to pay a player without it counting to the salary cap

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

There is always the Don Muhlbach option. Rodgers retires, it lowers the cap hit to just this year for a prorated amount, they get to re-sign him as a coach/assistant, and they might get a compensatory pick out of it.

[–] [email protected] 37 points 1 year ago

He didn't immunize himself against that? Seems like a mistake on his part to me.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Why does he trust doctors now? He looked fine out there. That's all I want to know.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Heroic dose of acid and a couple peyote buttons and he won't even need his legs. He can just float around under center

[–] [email protected] 20 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm sorry for all the jets fans. You had the team and the coaching staff to be competitive. You'll have to improvise now. Hope you get a good season.

[–] [email protected] 10 points 1 year ago (1 children)

As a Dolphins fan our mantra is "Fuck the Jets", but I certainly hate to see this type of injury

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Fellow Dolfan here. This sucks. You want to beat the Jets on their best day, not when they've got a replacement QB.

That sack looked very routine too, no huge blindsided hit, just a regular takedown with a slightly weird angle on his legs. Real bad luck.

[–] [email protected] 15 points 1 year ago

Ivermectin will clear that right up. The globalist referees don't want you to know that though.

[–] [email protected] 11 points 1 year ago (1 children)

That's a fucking awful injury to get. My mom get it a few years back training for a marathon. Took her a year before she could walk again. She's back training now but her doctor says its mostly scar tissue holding the tendon together now.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Damn, that sounds awful

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

🎶 Hello darkness my old friend 🎶

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

Ouch, that's rough.

As a dolphins fan it's hard not to think that gives is a great chance of the division now, but, would have been far more fun going head to head with the Jets than this happening.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (3 children)

Please don't sign Brady, please don't sign Brady.

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Brady ripping up the Patriots? I'm down.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Fins fan here. I just don't want to see him any more, it's been half my lifetime. Shit gets old being forced to watch a dude that sliced us up for years. Yeah we got the occasional rivalry upset, but he won 7. Anyway. Shit hits me deep.

Also, lack of flair makes this harder to get the viewpoint of a fellow football fan.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (2 children)

They have to see if he'll do it.

I think he's done and would turn them down, but that team has a lot of talent.

They should have a line in the sand number, though. I don't know how much they can theoretically open by manipulating contract structures, but even with how much talent the defense has, if you have to lose a stud young defender in a couple years to make the math work, it might not be worth it.

Brady swears this retirement is for real. Next time you see him, he'll be on a commercial or behind a booth.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

Just run some icy hot on it.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hate to see this. This was my QB for half of my life and to see him likely go out like this makes me sick.

Can we just stop with the turf? I know that this was newer turf, but you can't help attribute part of this injury to it. Higher injury rates on turf, any one that has played on it can tell you the traction is dramatically different and our bodies can't handle it

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So, is it basically better traction? But like with anything safety related, there's supposed to be a level of give so it gives way before you do?

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Yeah basically. Watch the video of Rodgers Achilles snapping, if you can stomach it. Now imagine that same play on a natural field.

There would be A LOT more give into the ground, and more often the grass sliding and giving way, which could take a lot of force away from that tendon.

Instead, his foot could not move or find a better position so that his own body could distribute the force, and the ground never gave any leeway, so all the force of him running, trying to break a tackle and a 300+lb elite athlete tackling him was transferred into his static Achilles tendon.

This could have been a sprained ankle, or maybe nothing on a grass field.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Yikes. That is a brutal injury.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

He's gonna go live on a farm where he can laugh and play and drink ayahuasca and spread dangerous laughably false medical advice.

The Jet fans have had an emotional rollercoaster in the last little bit

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Putting on the all too familiar Jets copium hat, they pulled out a W under catastrophic circumstances yesterday against a very good division rival. The Bills defense is going to give most QBs trouble especially when the O-Line isn't holding up well, so I don't think you can make too harsh of a judgement on Zach's performance (even though it wasn't too bad as is).

Now he's got a week to prepare with the starting unit and they can game plan around him, so let's see if he's learned anything from Coach Rodgers.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago

But they're playing the Cowboys who just made Daniel Jones look like a rookie. Two tough defenses back to back is a tough way to build the confidence of a young QB. If he gets shellacked by Dallas, he might have a tough time going forward.

Alternatively, if he weathers the storm he might gain confidence and blossom.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Donezo. Sorry jets, that shit sucks.
