I see dozens of posts daily with titles that include the words "this is an automatic archive". The link as often as not straight to a reddit post. Auto -deleting the post and banning the bot should be a simple matter, no? Also spam posting of old reddit porn with dead imgur links. All coming from a handful of accounts in clumps. This was never supposed to be a reddit mirror site, but someone sure is trying to make it one.
Unpopular Opinion
Welcome to the Unpopular Opinion community!
How voting works:
Vote the opposite of the norm.
If you agree that the opinion is unpopular give it an arrow up. If it's something that's widely accepted, give it an arrow down.
Guidelines:
Tag your post, if possible (not required)
- If your post is a "General" unpopular opinion, start the subject with [GENERAL].
- If it is a Lemmy-specific unpopular opinion, start it with [LEMMY].
Rules:
1. NO POLITICS
Politics is everywhere. Let's make this about [general] and [lemmy] - specific topics, and keep politics out of it.
2. Be civil.
Disagreements happen, but that doesn’t provide the right to personally attack others. No racism/sexism/bigotry. Please also refrain from gatekeeping others' opinions.
3. No bots, spam or self-promotion.
Only approved bots, which follow the guidelines for bots set by the instance, are allowed.
4. Shitposts and memes are allowed but...
Only until they prove to be a problem. They can and will be removed at moderator discretion.
5. No trolling.
This shouldn't need an explanation. If your post or comment is made just to get a rise with no real value, it will be removed. You do this too often, you will get a vacation to touch grass, away from this community for 1 or more days. Repeat offenses will result in a perma-ban.
Instance-wide rules always apply. https://legal.lemmy.world/tos/
I've complained about this endlessly since I came here at this point, this was one of my earliest posts here, with LW admin responses too, if you'd like to read what was said about this issue before a couple of months ago.

I personally take a hardline stance against bots on [email protected], but that's about all I can do. You should talk to the mods of the communities that allows the bot posts and see if they will listen.
Reddit's hive mind ruines lemmy even more
Agreed, started seeing toxic Redditors pop up here. It's good though that there are a lot more people that call this out. Hopefully that's enough to change those people
I've just booked them. Much better experience now
I've blocked every obvious bot I encountered the first week I was here and now I hardly ever see any bot posts outside of a couple AI art communities, and they don't seem to really spam so I'm okay with those (and I mean, bots posting bot made art is kinda cute).
Maybe this is a silly question but does unchecking the "show bot accounts" box in settings not work on them? I haven't gotten annoyed enough with them yet to uncheck the box to see if it works.
How is this unpopular?
Idk if this is an unpopular opinion. It might be a devisive one, but it's far from unpopular.
Honestly I'm not sure where I stand with it. Sometimes I hate it, sometimes I don't notice it, and other times I don't care. I have blocked the lemmit bot however - before I did so, it felt like every other post I saw had many upvotes and no comments.
Basically if a post I'm interested in has comments, then I'll read the comments and maybe even participate in them. But if it doesn't I won't. If I see a bot post too many things that never sees comments, I'll block it so it doesn't encroach on my feed and make it feel dead.
Just block communities. I blocked like a dozen already and my "All" feed is now tolerable.
