Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Please don't post about US Politics. If you need to do this, try [email protected]
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, and toxicity are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either [email protected] or [email protected].
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email [email protected]. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

Even without score spoilers, just KNOWING that millions of other fans are experiencing the same moment as you is as chilling of an effect as the game itself!
Nothing.
None. I genuinely never understood the appeal. I've watched it go from being basically not being a thing to being an incredibly lucrative form of celebrity in only a decade, all of my friends became obsessed with watching streamers, and I'm just like why?
Rocket launches. Sadly, SpaceX decided to switch exclusively to streaming on X instead of also doing YouTube. So you get like ultra low bitrate 360p video that refuses to load anyway.
D&D live play.
where and how?
Twitch and youtube, search d&d or Critical Role. Or, I also aubscribe to Drop Out and watch Demension 20.
Check out just roll with it
Just watching a World Endurance Championship race in Japan.
I've endured the World for 40 years. Wanna watch me poop while talking to my cats about life?
I have a mirror for that kind of content.
As in a back up?
Ones that are on-demand afterwards. I don't have the time to watch an entire stream in one go, and I hate missing out while I go to the bathroom or do chores.
Does a twitch channel that streams a 30 year old TV show (MST3k) count?
Sometimes I watch a conference or similar event, but not really into watching live streams, unless it is nsfw ;)
Sports and video games.
The royal wedding.

TV in general. All my live TV is through streams (IPTV), but mainly local news and sports.
VTubers
Gaming and art
I would watch a few TTRPG streams a few years back but the good ones offer podcasts which is much superior to live streaming. Nowadays the only thing I watch is the occasional smaller jackbox stream when I get an itch to play.
Planespotting.
I often lurk on my friends' Twitch streams, whatever it is they may be streaming, to help support them. It is typically The Last Of Us that they are streaming.
The final fantasy playthrough 24/7 loop from Dansg08.
