Of course fucking not. Fascists are lying as usual.

The problem is that people listen to those fascists don't read fact checks from the BBC.

Why

I can answer that in one word: Brexit.

Yes, before Brexit, we were able to return asylum seekers to France because under EU rules, you didn't have the right to claim asylum in one country if you had also passed through another safe country, and guess what, France counts as safe. The French helped enforce this because they were obliged to.

But now we're a third party country, we can no longer send them straight back, hence the massive growth in channel crossings under the Conservatives. But the Brexiteers didn't really want to reduce migration at all, because keeping you blaming some poor person in a boat for your problems keeps you from blaming rich people and corporations for taking all your money.

The UN Declaration of Human Rights, Article 14, proclaimed Dec 10th 1948, drafted in part by the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

Next question please.

General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(
