Fair question. Also, why do I already know that Kevin Hart's character in this movie will be indistinguishable from Kevin Hart in any other movie?
If Hart was willing to be Roland instead of Kevin Hart I'd consider it, but casting a comedian for the role is honestly kind of suspect regardless.
What, you don't think people would believe a serious black man as the team leader? What was the thinking here, exactly?
The thinking was that Kevin Hart movies are cheap to make (he probably only needed a week on set if that ) and generally profitable, so this would be too. I think that's about it .
Probably because I didn't even realize this existed until just now. Same thing with the BioShock movie that I'm sure a lot of you only just now learned about because of this comment. If I knew it even existed or was even being made I'd be totally down to see it even if it's awful. That just sounds like a marketing failure to me.
I did hear that borderlands was being made into a movie but had no idea it was already out. And you are correct this is the first I am hearing about a BioShock movie. Marketing failures indeed.
Directing failure it sounds like too. Who saw the fandom around borderlands and thought that that cast would hype the fans.
I like all the actresses and actors but they just seemed like a poor fit for the story.

Cate Blanchett and Jamie Lee Curtis would have made this a maybe, but Kevin Hart as Roland?

I realize Idris Elba can't play every role, but come on. He's literally a stoic yet handsome straight man.
