I’ve been asking for it for a couple of years, I would never expect anything from proton “soon”.

We'll be working on a new CLI based on the new v4 app, but we're currently working on WireGuard, so it might take some time until we get the CLI out.

This is the status from the team.

Their slow development on Linux is due to them not having enough Linux developers, they stated this a while back on reddit at least.

I much preferred their old CLI app over the GUI. Hoping they bring it back.

God I hope so. When I switched from Mint to Debian a few months ago, it worked fine. All of a sudden, one day after an update, it would no longer load. Since then I see that they've downgraded to the previous version, yet it still doesn't work. So annoying.
