Apple officially allows and supports VPN apps since tvOS 17 and there are many VPN apps available for Apple TV now.

from the team:

Hi everyone,

After Apple made it possible to support VPNs on Apple TV, you’ve made it clear that you would like to see support for Proton VPN.

After announcing that it would be available this summer and publishing the source code in September, it took a bit of time to get through Apple’s review process, but we’re happy to share that it is now available!

With Apple TV and Proton VPN, you can now stream your favorite shows, films, and sporting events on your big-screen TV in full 4K from over 100 servers via your Apple TV, no matter where you are: protonvpn.com/download-appletv

Proton VPN is now available on tvOS!

See our streaming guide for more information: https://protonvpn.com/support/streaming-guide/

Proton VPN is now available across the Apple ecosystem on iOS, macOS, iPadOS, Apple Vision Pro, and tvOS. Let us know what you think!

Hi everyone,

Based on your feedback, we're happy to share that you can now sync aliases between Proton Pass and SimpleLogin.

This feature is rolling out now and will be available for everyone soon. ⏰

Here's how it works:

  • Tap the 'sync aliases' button in Proton Pass
  • Choose which vault to sync aliases to
  • Aliases will continue to sync, and disabled aliases will be reflected in Proton Pass and SimpleLogin

What’s next?

Soon, you’ll be able to manage custom domains and additional mailboxes, as well as send emails from Proton Pass hide-my-email aliases.

Let us know what you think.

Not sure I understand the question. A key can be used on Web as well as on the mobile apps now, instead of TOTP (which however cannot be yet disabled). It is generally advised to have a multiple key pair, incase one is lost / defect.

from the team:

Hi everyone,

We've heard your requests and are excited to announce that FIDO2 support is now live for all Proton mobile apps! This means you can use security keys like YubiKey to add a layer of phishing-resistant protection to your account. Here’s how to add a security key to your account using the web app:

https://proton.me/support/2fa-security-key

After adding security keys, you can use them to authenticate on mobile when signing into all Proton mobile apps.

Thank you to everyone who's been asking for this feature. We're always working to make Proton more secure and user-friendly, and your feedback is invaluable in helping us get there.

What's next?

Soon, we'll provide the option to disable the Authenticator App for those with registered security keys, so stay tuned!

Give it a try and let us know what you think!

Hi everyone,

Today, we’re adding one of the most requested features for desktop:

🔄Now you can switch between your Proton accounts from the Proton Mail desktop app, and stay logged in to all of them the entire time.

Available for Windows, macOS, and Linux: https://proton.me/mail/download

Let us know what you think in the comments.

from the team:

Hi everyone,

To better streamline communication for organizations relying on Proton Mail, we’re adding a new feature: Groups.

Create a group for a department or team in your organization, and assign its own dedicated email address. It then works as a distribution list, allowing everyone to reach all group members, all protected by end-to-end encryption.

For example, a group address for your customer care or HR team allows all inquiries directed to them to be seen by the entire team, eliminating the need for a shared email account.

Groups can also include addresses outside of your organization, such as customers, contractors, and agencies. However, in order to retain end-to-end encryption, external collaborators would need to use Proton Mail, too.

Unlike contact groups, already available in Proton Mail, Group addresses are better suited for organizations:

⭕ they are centrally managed and automatically available across the entire organization

🗓️ they remain valid even as team members change

The feature is rolling out progressively to users on Proton Mail Professional, Proton Business, and Visionary plans.

Once available, you can get started by going to Settings > Organization > Groups on the web.

Learn more at this link https://proton.me/support/groups and let us know what you think in the comments.

from the team:

You can now securely log into your Proton Pass account on iOS and Android using FIDO2 (such as security keys) for two-factor authentication (2FA).

Here’s how: https://proton.me/support/set-up-fido2-on-mobile

What’s next?

Support for FIDO2 in other Proton apps coming soon, as well as the ability to disable the authenticator app when security keys are enabled.

We’re thrilled to announce that Proton VPN’s browser extensions for Chrome, Chromium-based browsers, and Firefox are now available to all Proton Free users - a highly requested feature by our community.

Proton VPN browser extensions let you connect to a VPN server and encrypt your connection with one click—no app installation needed. Downloadable from our website or the Chrome and Firefox web stores, they help users access the uncensored internet, even where VPNs are blocked on app stores.

Proton VPN ensures access to a free and open internet because everyone deserves accurate information and privacy. The Proton Free plan is made possible by those who choose paid plans, enabling us to develop anti-censorship features and offer our services for free.

You can also propose, vote, and discuss feature requests on User Voice.

Yes, as long as you''re not above the Duo plan limitations (e.g storage or custom domains)

For those asking about Stealth on Linux, quote from the team:

With Wireguard for Linux about to come out of beta and we are planning to bring Stealth to Linux as well.

Teams answer:

Our business audience was the most interested in a writing assistant, this is why we started gradually rolling it out starting with Business and Visionary plans. We will look into making it available to more users at a later date!

The team states the following regarding Firefox:

Support for running language models locally is currently only available in the Firefox Nightly builds. In our testing with Firefox, we haven’t been able to get Proton Scribe to run reliably on a variety of devices. We will see how the situation evolves before adding support.

Just a note to add, this is just the re-confirmation of this year, the two previous years they have had no-logs policy audits as well :)

Just to answer here in the thread also, as answered on reddit:

IKEv2 has been discontinued on iOS for security reasons:

https://protonvpn.com/support/discontinuing-ikev2-openvpn-macos-ios/

You'll have to use an app, whether that is the Proton VPN app, Open VPN app, WireGuard app or something like Passepartout.

The OpenVPN app works with the OpenVPN protocol and thus with the OpenVPN configuration files.

The WireGuard app works with WireGuard configuration files.

Passepartout works with both, OpenVPN and WireGuard configuration files.

The team states on reddit:

By cursor movements we don't mean mouse movement, but only the typing indicator. Mouse movement is not recorded. It is only shown when you choose to collaborate with someone by sharing access to view or edit the document to make the collaboration possible. Moreover, the contents of your documents including these movements, comments, and replies are end-to-end encrypted, so that no one, not even Proton, can see the contents of your documents.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 4 months ago

I'd assume that is coming later on.. Step by step.
