Could be related to https://lemmy.ml/post/1919017 but I followed the instructions, and after setting it up I still couldn't login.

What I did:

  1. Login to lemmy.ml on mobile browser
  2. Go to my settings and check 2FA, tap Save
  3. Tap on the button link, automatically opens Authy
  4. On desktop browser, I tried logging in
  5. Copy/paste code from Authy
  6. Get 400 error on login (invalid totp token)

Luckily I was still signed in on mobile so I was able to remove 2FA from my account. Am I missing something from setting up 2FA?

I'm going to post here too as I have a similar issue with 2FA. Except for me, it tries to open a link, but nothing is associated with that link. I have Authy on my desktop, but it does not open that. Normally activating 2FA gives a QR code or a string of characters. You can manually input that string into whatever 2FA app you use, and it generates the 6 number return that you paste into the site to authenticate. But I only get the open as a link option.

I'm on Linux desktop using web browser.

https://lemmy.ml/comment/1432483 found this comment on another thread, maybe you can try copy pasting the link to Authy?

Thanks yes I see that string after secret= is the code to put into Authy. The problem after that is I have nowhere in Lemmy to put the 6-digit code from Authy to confirm it. So 50% closer now, but not able to do the final confirmation.

It didn’t require confirmation for me either except the next time I tried to login it asks for the code, then ran into the error in my original post. Not quite sure how it’s supposed to work

On Mac & iPhone, I found a setting for default security code that I was able to set to Authy, and only after that it opens the link in Authy. Previously it was just opening password manager and asking me which login I want to associate the security code too.

+1 on making it easier to set up (QR code or string input) that's more aligned to usual 2FA setup.
