Hmm yes that's what I thought too. It was nice on Reddit where you could choose where the report went, I hope they can implement something like that here.
I don't know how well that would work. I could see people being pretty confused by that. Like not knowing what an instance related issue is versus a community one. With larger instances it might lead to a flood of unnecessary posts going to the instance moderators.
I've just described where reports are going in another comment on this post, but to expand on that, reports on the same instance are shared between community mods on the same instance and admins, which means that even though admins may see your report, a moderator resolving the report can also do this in an attempt to avoid the report being seen by an admin.
There are already discussions about improving this experience in general, but this is probably going to take at least several months to significantly improve.
I made an issue on the Lemmy github for a solution to this problem. It allows for reports to be controlled by users just like they are on Mastodon. Would allow people to effectively bypass community moderators entirely, or bypass forwarding to remote instances.

Coming back to your reports, I've taken a look at your reports of posts and I can only see 2 reports there, neither one relating to content containing spousal or animal abuse.
To answer your question about reporting options for communities, there is currently no native functionality in lemmy for reporting communities. Only posts, comments and private messages can be reported.
Having said this, many instances provide contact information in the sidebar. For Lemmy.World, you can find this e.g. on https://lemmy.world/.

Interesting, I've definitely submitted more than 2 reports. Hmm, I'm going to guess the app I'm using is the issue. Good to know reports always go to the instance, thank you!
I just stop reporting posts and simply leave the community if the posts stay up for several weeks.

The content didn't violate Lemmy terms of service or be of anything illegal, just the rules the mod posted.
If the mod has a short list of rules that say not to post X, and a user specifically posts X, what can I do really do about it? They may get some downvotes, but the posts stays up. The post gets reported, but the post still stays up. I check back a week later, and the post is still there.
I can't build a community up, and if it's clear the creators of that community and/or the current mods themselves have moved on or simply don't care, then I will just move on.
