"IDF reveals" is rapidly losing credibility.

Rules:
-
Rule 1: posts have the following requirements:
- Post news articles only
- Video links are NOT articles and will be removed.
- Title must match the article headline
- Not United States Internal News
- Recent (Past 30 Days)
- Screenshots/links to other social media sites (Twitter/X/Facebook/Youtube/reddit, etc.) are explicitly forbidden, as are link shorteners.
-
Rule 2: Do not copy the entire article into your post. The key points in 1-2 paragraphs is allowed (even encouraged!), but large segments of articles posted in the body will result in the post being removed. If you have to stop and think "Is this fair use?", it probably isn't. Archive links, especially the ones created on link submission, are absolutely allowed but those that avoid paywalls are not.
-
Rule 3: Opinions articles, or Articles based on misinformation/propaganda may be removed. Sources that have a Low or Very Low factual reporting rating or MBFC Credibility Rating may be removed.
-
Rule 4: Posts or comments that are homophobic, transphobic, racist, sexist, anti-religious, or ableist will be removed. “Ironic” prejudice is just prejudiced.
-
Posts and comments must abide by the lemmy.world terms of service UPDATED AS OF 10/19
-
Rule 5: Keep it civil. It's OK to say the subject of an article is behaving like a (pejorative, pejorative). It's NOT OK to say another USER is (pejorative). Strong language is fine, just not directed at other members. Engage in good-faith and with respect! This includes accusing another user of being a bot or paid actor. Trolling is uncivil and is grounds for removal and/or a community ban.
Similarly, if you see posts along these lines, do not engage. Report them, block them, and live a happier life than they do. We see too many slapfights that boil down to "Mom! He's bugging me!" and "I'm not touching you!" Going forward, slapfights will result in removed comments and temp bans to cool off.
-
Rule 6: Memes, spam, other low effort posting, reposts, misinformation, advocating violence, off-topic, trolling, offensive, regarding the moderators or meta in content may be removed at any time.
-
Rule 7: We didn't USED to need a rule about how many posts one could make in a day, then someone posted NINETEEN articles in a single day. Not comments, FULL ARTICLES. If you're posting more than say, 10 or so, consider going outside and touching grass. We reserve the right to limit over-posting so a single user does not dominate the front page.
We ask that the users report any comment or post that violate the rules, to use critical thinking when reading, posting or commenting. Users that post off-topic spam, advocate violence, have multiple comments or posts removed, weaponize reports or violate the code of conduct will be banned.
All posts and comments will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. This means that some content that violates the rules may be allowed, while other content that does not violate the rules may be removed. The moderators retain the right to remove any content and ban users.

Any actual proof of this, or is this just yet another bogus, baseless claim?
i mean it's Jerusalem post, so
Ahh, this is their "discredit the media" phase of fascism, I see.
They started that back in 2021 when they bombed a Gaza highrise that housed multiple journalist offices.
per the IDF.
Ah, so more unsubstantiated bullshit. If they wanted to be believed, they shouldn't have lied the first, second, fifth, or twentieth time before.
You mean like they 'revealed' (read: lied about) UNRWA having ties to Hamas?
They lost me way back at the fake "Palestinian" nurse with the Israeli accent who was complaining about trying to fix a kid's fracture without painkillers at Al Shifa because Hamas.
(Meanwhile the real medical staff at Al Shifa were complaining about having to amputate children's limbs without anaesthetic because IDF).
Lol yeah he probably have a hammas base inside his shoe or something
I don't listen to Israel, the IDF or any news agency talking negatively about the people being genocided. I don't care about Hamas
Ah, so THIS is why they've been preemptively slaughtering every journalist they can. It's just self defense!
Not sure why anything JPost says about Gaza or the West Bank is believable in the slightest. We have so many, many examples of them blatantly lying about anything and everything in the past.
But, of course, the retraction is much less noticed as compared to the original fake claim.
had a side job as a commander in Hamas's anti-tank missile units until 2022
- Not even relevant to recent events.
- Anti-tank missiles are probably self defense, or at worst resistance.
- "evidence retrieved by the IDF revealed"
it looks like they photoshopped weapons to replace cameras. A part time military commander?
Do you have another source for this? I’m not familiar with jpost.
Edit:
MBFC says the following about jpost.
Bias Rating: RIGHT-CENTER
Factual Reporting: HIGH
Country: Israel
MBFC’s Country Freedom Rank: MODERATE FREEDOM
Media Type: Magazine
Traffic/Popularity: High Traffic
MBFC Credibility Rating: HIGH CREDIBILITY
High Credibility but also Bibi's mouthpiece...
Analysis Until 1989, the Jerusalem Post’s political leaning was left-leaning as it supported the ruling Labor Party. After Conrad Black acquired the paper, its political position changed to right-leaning, when Black began hiring conservative journalists and editors. Eli Azur is the current owner of Jerusalem Post. According to Ynetnews, and a Haaretz article, “Benjamin Netanyahu, the Editor in Chief,” in 2017, Azur gave testimony regarding Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s pressure. Current Editor Yaakov Katz was the former senior policy advisor to Naftali Bennett, the former Prime Minister and head of the far-right political party, “New Right.”
I have severe doubts that Al Jazeera would post this kind of story. And with this kind of evidence from IDF, I do think it means that there's reason to discredit Al Jazeera as well.
Welcome to war. The first casualty is truth as they always say.
I didn’t mean AJ, I was looking for something like AP or Reuters.
Welcome to war. The first casualty is truth as they always say.
True, but that’s just another reason to remain skeptical and vigilant about checking the validity of claims.
Welcome to war. The first casualty is truth as they always say.
Especially when IDF is trying so hard to kill it

Over a hundred to date, and that's only this year. Every year we get stories of Israeli snipers targeting journalists etc.
Israel sided, but no more so than Middle East Eye is anti-isralei... which somehow gets hundreds of upvotes. Credible, factual, but biased.
People ask for evidence, evidence provided, evidence downvoted.
I would consider this a bit of info in a sea of propaganda campaigns and bot vote manipulation - don't take it as gospel, but an insight.
Al-Jazeera journalist by day, freedom fighter by night.
He's basically Superman.

This is the best summary I could come up with:
Al-Jazeera journalist Mohammed Wishah had a side job as a commander in Hamas's anti-tank missile units until 2022, evidence retrieved by the IDF revealed, the IDF's spokesperson for Arabic media, Avichay Adraee, announced on Sunday.
"During operations by our forces several weeks ago inside one of the Hamas camps in the northern Gaza Strip, a laptop belonging to someone named Muhammed Samir Muhammed Wishah, born in 1986 from Bureij, was seized where it is clear from the documents that Muhammed Wishah is a prominent commander in the anti-tank missile units in the military wing of Hamas."
At the end of 2022, Wishah transferred to work in the field of research and development in Hamas' aerial units, according to Adraee.
Adraee's attached photos showed Wishah engaged in operations within Hamas, including photos showing Wishah training Hamas members and firing anti-tank missiles.
"Who knows how many details we will reveal about the presence of other terrorists in journalistic uniforms in the near future?"
The IDF's English-language X account responded to the revelations, posting "Hey @AlJazeera, we thought your journalists were supposed to give unbiased reports on situations, not actively participate in creating them on the front lines as Hamas terrorists."
The original article contains 249 words, the summary contains 198 words. Saved 20%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!
