They still taught us how to use an abacus when I went to school đź’€

[-] [email protected] 14 points 7 months ago

yeah! in primary school

Sure, they wouldn't know how to work an abacus, but that's because they're American, not because they're trans.

I was like this is technically true, but I'm not sure what point is being made.

Slide the beads over one at a time and when a row gets full slide all the beads back and slide one from the next row.

who are you, who are so wise in the ways of science?

[-] [email protected] 22 points 7 months ago

An above average transfem, on the sole metric of knowing how to work an abacus obama-medal

[-] [email protected] 15 points 7 months ago

I was thinking about building a relay-based kit computer. Distantly related to being able to work an abacus?

[-] [email protected] 15 points 7 months ago

hmm. the modern day equivalent perhaps, but i don't think the skills are particularly transferable

trans for trans, it means a relationship between trans people that doesn't involve cis people

also please don't come into the trans comm and be rude when you ask questions

[-] [email protected] 23 points 7 months ago

Sorry I didn’t meet to be rude.

[-] [email protected] 19 points 7 months ago

Using a wtf to ask about what a trans (or lgbtq+ in general) thing is makes you sound like you are making it out to be ridiculous, like what a transphobe would do.

[-] [email protected] 7 points 7 months ago

Um ok? I apologized…

[-] [email protected] 11 points 7 months ago

i think they were just letting you know why your initial comment came off as rude

[-] [email protected] 2 points 7 months ago

I think I understood that I came off as rude and apologized. Idk wtf the abacus reference is to either.

I’m extremely online and what is this?

Sorry I don’t meant to barge into any spaces, I barely post anywhere found this place and thought the posting quality was pretty good.

idk if anyone was mad people just like to explain things sometimes. I know I do (it might be the tism)

[-] [email protected] 3 points 7 months ago* (last edited 7 months ago)

i think you're fine, you apologized.

do you know what a eunuch is? they were a specific class of amab person who was castrated and usually acted as high ranking civil servants in imperial courts in china. the joke is that eunuchs could navigate social drama because of their experience in imperial courts, but a modern trans woman couldn't carry out the basic functions of the eunuch's job (using an abacus to do like, basic accounting and stuff)

t3t "oh no we lost one!"

t2t t "send out someone to search"

t2t t2t "found the bastard"

t4t "together again!"

[-] [email protected] 27 points 7 months ago

So that's what an abacus is for? To keep track of everyone in your polycule?
