Republicans contend Mayorkas is guilty of “high crimes and misdemeanors” that amount to a “willful and systemic refusal to comply with the law” on immigration and a “breach of the public trust.” Impeachment, they say, is “Congress’s only viable option.”

“Alejandro N. Mayorkas willfully and systemically refused to comply with the immigration laws, failed to control the border to the detriment of national security, compromised public safety, and violated the rule of law and separation of powers in the Constitution, to the manifest injury of the people of the United States,” the impeachment resolution says.

Ever since taking control of the House in 2023, Republicans have pushed to impeach Mayorkas. Sunday’s announcement comes as their other impeachment drive — to impeach Democratic President Joe Biden in relation to his son Hunter’s business dealings — has struggled to advance.

Refusing to secure the border? The one that Texas won’t allow border patrol to access?

Also the one that they won't fund to protect.

If they solved the problem they wouldn't be able to complain about it.

also, hasn't the border been MUCH more controlled since Trump left office?

Immigration policy isn’t the most interesting thing to me, but I think Biden has largely kept trumps policies in place.

House Republicans are nothing but trash talking seditionists, and a lonely capital bomber. Their speaker has proven he is a weak nothing. They can only file up the cult now. The party of nothing

What do these representatives impeaching Mayorkas have to say about Abbott claiming Texas law supersedes federal law and the armed convoy going down there to shoot up some of them there Messicans?

Probably nothing to say. It seems to me the GOP is simply addicted to the idea of impeaching somebody ... anybody ... and just want their fix NOW.

Not kidding here either. It's like watching a drug/alcohol addict chase their addiction until they die.

This "crisis at the border" is just this election cycle's "caravan" all over again. And the media is falling for it hook, line, and sinker. Republicans don't want to campaign on abortion, Trump's multiple pending criminal trials, or their overall inability to govern.

So instead they cry "crisis at the border, crisis at the border!" And if they shout it long enough, people start to be afraid. And when they're afraid, they vote Republican.

But in reality, they have no policies to run on. Trump ran in 2016 on stopping immigration. Obviously, he didn't do shit and he pardoned his cronies for embezzling funds meant for building the wall. They just hope that Americans have the memory of goldfish and that they can be scared into voting Republican again.
