Orphan Crushing Machine

A community featuring uplifting and wholesome news stories that overlook deeply ingrained systemic problems.

The rules:

1. Your post must be an unironic presentation of a wholesome story, but one that overlooks systemic failures that made the story possible in the first place. In other words, we want posts that highlight "Yay, the problem is solved!", but ignore "Wait, why was this a problem in the first place?" at the same time.

2. Re-posts will be removed at mod discretion.

3. Sitewide rules apply. Basically, (a) don't be a dick; (b) use the NSFW tag; (c) no spam; (d) don't attack people; and (e) don't abuse the report button.

So it costs $142.86 per orphan to turn off the orphan-crushing machine.

These orphans, there is no equality in the orphan crushing machine's price.

Truly a heart warming tale! Let's all take a moment to commend the heros who temporarily halted the unstoppable orphan crushing machine.

At least the school took the donation this time. Wasn't there a school, a few years ago, that had an offer of a donation like this and they refused the money?

It'd be funny if we weren't talking kids going hungry in our own fucking community.

Ofc there are multiple examples that fit the bill.

I hate it here.

Oh. My. God. The premise was revolting enough. I CAN NOT believe they could go a whole full step further and refuse the payment.

Is the orphancrushing machine, in fact, the easier, softer way? Not advocating murder or crushing or starving children whose parents are poor, but no one belongs in a place like this.

Those kids in the picture have no idea what's going on. Someone pointed a camera at them and told them to smile.

The parents of 7,000 other children are the ones who really know what's going on.

Next time I hope Arby's spends money on lobbying for a federal law that all children eat free at school.

But what if they lobbied to feed them Arby's free at school?
