The Russian Revolution of 1905, also known as the First Russian Revolution, was a wave of mass political and social unrest that spread through vast areas of the Russian Empire. It included labor strikes, peasant unrest, military mutinies, and the formation of grassroots councils (soviets) of people's power. It is widely felt that the 1905 revolution set the stage for the 1917 Russian Revolutions, and for Bolshevism to emerge as a distinct political movement. Lenin later called it "The Great Dress Rehearsal", without which the "victory of the October Revolution in 1917 would have been impossible".

The 1905 revolution was spurred by the Russian defeat in the Russo-Japanese War, which ended in the same year, but also by the growing realization by a variety of sectors of society of the need for reform in the face of agrarian crisis, economic stagnation, and political repression. However, it is generally felt that the detonator of the insurrection were the events of β€œBloody Sunday”, in which a mass demonstration -led by priest and police agent, Georgy Gapon- which had sought to petition the Tsar for relief, was fired upon by the troops, killing hundreds of marchers.

There followed clashes in St. Petersburg, and spreading unrest throughout the rest of the Russian Empire. Strikes spread in three great waves: January, October, and November. In June the crew of the battleship Potemkin famously mutinied against their officers. There were further clashes in St. Petersburg in December.

The rebellion did not overthrow the autocracy, but by late 1905 the Tsar felt obligated by events to agree to constitutional reforms, including the establishment of the State Duma, a multi-party political system, and the Russian Constitution of 1906.

That video that's been making the round of the British guy being targeted by "THE CCP"? Turns out he was a racist piece of shit antagonizing the Chinese people. Felt great seeing the Chinese man make that white prick shudder for a second. All the comments saying they would start shit would have probably gotten their ass beat.

Also China really needs to work on their soft power internally and externally. Too many Chinese have this positive view of NATO countries that absolutely despise and discriminate against them.

Trying to google if dogs in China understand the difference between commands with only a different tone, and wording the search extra carefully so the CIA agent assigned to track me doesn't think I'm wondering how they teach dogs Chinese

If I post that's just because I'm insecure and I care too much about what internet people that may as well be videogame NPCs for as much of a real connection I have to them think. But if I don't post it's just because I'm insecure about seeming so insecure as to post.

Anyone have any Caribbean recipes that are easy to make vegan? I'm trying to cook more food from different places.

I made some egusi soup recently, highly recommend it if you've never tried it.

Am I the only person who finds t-shirts on Aliexpress with the craziest designs? They're all like $5 and I'm the only one with said t-shirt.

Judge Holden is a good villain, but he’s not as good as Blue Duck, and obviously Anton Chigurh is better than both of them.

Oh fuck, stayed awake too long on too little sleep, the overwhelming sadness and loneliness I'm always distracting myself from with work is hitting

Oh nice Plan 9 is almost done compiling. Only operating system I have seen compile itself on a shitty dual-processor PC laptop from 2009 (but with a fast SSD) and be IO-bottlenecked lol. The Plan 9 compilers are wonderful

I just finished updating and now I'm gonna try to build the system for an SGI Indy (similar system to the one I'm porting it to, an SGI Indigo 2). I heard there's been recent work on the Indy kernel so if it works properly in MAME I'll try to make the necessary changes to bring the system up on the MAME Indigo 2. Then the real hardware I have

Should I make a post about it if I get working? (After I write a framebuffer driver for the GR3 Elan graphics in my system so I have pretty GUI ofc lol) I'll have to try to get Quake working maybe lol

Do expired covid tests still work?

A professor of mine got covid and I sit in the front row in that class, I always wear my mask but I'm still nervous. The only tests that I have on hard are 6 months out of date, I don't want to go out and buy another one because if I do have covid I don't want to expose anyone else to it
