Frieren giving Fern a different answer from the one that she gave Himmel is one of those small things that make me love this series. It shows how much of an impact those ten years travelling with him (plus Heiter and Eisen) had on her.
It shows how much our lives aren't really shaped by the years that we spend doing nothing, like she did in the forest for, like, 500 years? No, what matters are the small moments.
Frieren's life is like the Lenin quote:
There are decades where nothing happens; and there are weeks where decades happen.
That short (to her) time with Flamme, the 10 years with Himmel's party, this journey to heaven. They are all fleeting moments of her life, but they are what has and will define the millennia to come.

Mages are out doing exams, Stark finally has some time to relax by himself!
Kraft is back! I like that he keeps reappearing, makes it feel like we will be seeing more of him in the future.
Frieren's teammates might be handful, but poor Fern got paired up with the murder girl. I'm gonna guess her solution to the bird capturing problem will probably involve waiting for another team to catch one then beating them up and taking it.
For some reason I expected them to show up, take the exam, and then leave in a single episode. But, I'm really curious to see how this goes now that they've set up several interesting looking characters. I just hope poor Stark doesn't die of boredom 😂
I also expected Frieren to "One Punch Man" the situation and end the exam with a single spell.
What was Freiren's rusty necklace? Was it something that her teacher gave her?
I'm not quite liking Freiren's 2 teammates, who seem more caricatures than personalities.
Freiren's quite a bitch for holding out on that little bit of important information about those birds, both big and small.
