Despite a cracking down on child labor in the western world, less % of people enjoy their youth than ever in recorded history.
First of all, what's your source for that? It seems hard to get data on. Second of all, I could understand that. The schooling system used in much of the western world is great at making docile factory workers, but not so great at making happy, emotionally healthy and creative people.

It's kind of like this big experiment, tho' of course precious little data is being collected, wherein each of us can make all sorts of lifestyle choices, and then we can see which one's result in better, healthier, longer lives.

There's also the OSK treatment Sinclair's lab has seen results with, and the blood replacement stuff is also showing promising signs. There's hope that we can actually roll back the clock, but we aren't there yet.
