I wonder if this will be another Isreali claim they retract months later.

The same guy is in a hospital pointing to a "hostage keepers list" of "terrorist names" which is literally just a calendar.

Countdown for when they retract and admit it was bullshit: 1000... 999... 998...

[–] [email protected] 11 points 11 months ago (3 children)

This stuff is just absurd.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Hamas actually mandates that every member names themselves after a day of the week to make scheduling easier.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago

I heard Hezbollah uses months of the year.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago (1 children)

Why does the calendar appear to start on 10/7 though?

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago) (1 children)

If you look carefully at the photo, it starts on 2023/10/07 (at the top) which is October 7th, a Saturday.

Presumably that's how they organise some work for the month.

But seriously, who cares? It's obviously not a terrorist list unless calendars are now forbidden to Palestinians.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago (2 children)

I mean I'm probably reading into it too much, but it seems suspicious that it starts on the day of the attack. I've never heard of calendars starting with Saturdays either but I definitely admit I don't know much about this region. Either way, I am very much opposed to this violence happening and don't know how to feel about it all beyond that. Mostly just sad...

The Palestinian workweek actually does start on Saturday.

[–] [email protected] 0 points 11 months ago

That photo literally just has days of the week listed.

Here we have a dude justifying hard on bombing hospital with civilians in it.

but it's okay Hamas do it so IDF can too, they're both in the same league anyway

Hamas is an asset to Israel.

Every time peace is brought up to the table, they’ll blow it up.

Hamas is an asset to Israel.

I'll take things literally said by Netanyahu's cabinet for 400 Alex.

I couldn't find the loose clip with a quick search. But John Oliver had it on his show Sunday.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

John Oliver did a good job explaining the situation.

Even without saying it literally, Hamas is backed by Iran and they want to destabilize the middle east. Israel wants as much land as possible.

So the plan is Israel ask Hamas to attack them so they can retaliate and occupy more land. A win win situation.

They have been in this state for decades.

Here is an alternative Piped link(s):

For fear of being called a Hamas bootlicker... I don't get it.

So there was a secret safe house under the hospital containing some weapons and evidence that someone had been tied up there in the past. Maybe that justifies surrounding the place with tanks and securing it.

So... now that's been secured, what is the justification for not allowing it to continue to function. Are the IDF giving amnesty to all the displaced patients and giving them the medical aid they need?

[–] [email protected] 12 points 11 months ago (1 children)

The last time they "provided evidence" it was a shitty animation with no actual proof whatsoever. I'm not believing a word those Nazi wannabes say ever again.

https://voxpoliticalonline.com/2023/10/27/is-israeli-pm-netanyahu-using-cgi-cartoon-as-excuse-to-bomb-a-gaza-hospital/

There's other sources but the point being it's bollocks. Taking the Israeli government/military at its word is no less callous than actually believing that Poland attacked Germany first to start WW2.

Appreciate the link.

I looked around a bit, and the most comprehensive source I found was from APNews:

https://apnews.com/article/israel-palestinians-hamas-war-shifa-hospital-ce8fda9821a011a6cb6e4a3df5c90916

Appears to be an unbiased summary of the current situation along with statements and evidence made and provided by both sides (so far). Needless to say, the picture is far from clear.

I'd hesitate to compare an ongoing event with a lack of clear evidence to one in the past with a mountain of evidence and clear facts however. I really do hope that we will never reach a point where the events of the current Gaza-Israel war could be compared to the atrocities and horrors of WW2.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 11 months ago

that is some pretty weak evidence

[–] [email protected] 3 points 11 months ago

Israel: Killing civilians is wrong ~~unless we're the ones doing it~~

[–] [email protected] 1 points 11 months ago

IDF presents...IGNORE! Why aren't there independent parties allowed into Gaza to confirm or deny this? WHY? I don't believe anything IDF has to say without verification. That's just fair.
