I find buying a used higher quality laptop better than going to a new cheap one when shopping for family and friends. Often they can be found for cheaper than new cheap laptops and have far superior specs and build quality.

Do you have any suggestions for finding decent "gently used laptops"? The few times I've looked (ebay, Craigslist, etc) they've been pretty shady (looks fine, runs like it's eaten a litter of dust bunnies).
