Good luck with that.

The civil trial is over, this is just damages. Also, Letitia James should go after Trump for these crimes.

Because it's literally fraud.

This is a desperate attempt to cancel out Baba's incompetence regarding a jury setting damages vs. the judge that Trump has been insulting from day one.

It's not even that, it's just Elise Stefanik, a completely shameless grifter who cares about nothing but her own aggrandizement, seeing an opportunity to demonstrate fealty to Trump. She sees the end of Mike Johnson's speakership coming around the corner and is already campaigning for the job.

I live near, but not in Elise Stefanik's district. That means I get subjected to her horrible political ads, but can't actually vote against her. (But at least she doesn't represent me in Congress.)

I hope, one day, her district kicks her out so I can stop seeing her ads every few years. Sadly, her district is pretty red so I doubt she'll be kicked to the curb anytime soon.

Political shills.

If the facts are against you, argue the law. If the law is against you, argue the facts. If the law and the facts are against you, pound the table and yell like hell

She is complaining that a billionaire and ex president is being held accountable for crimes he did. And if they can do it to the rich and powerful they could hold any of us to the law.

This women is awful.

She's trying to help the defense showing that that the judge is biased. They want to appeal. They know they are going to lose badly, so are tilting at windmills.

Trump already lost the civil case, the judge found him guilty of fraud. Everything in the case now is just about damages and penalties.

"If Judge Engoron can railroad a billionaire New York businessman, a former President of the United States, and the leading presidential candidate, just imagine what he could do to all New Yorkers,” Stefanik writes.

"If this can happen to someone who is above the law, imagine what could happen to you regular people."

Literally making her own counter argument in favour of the rule of law.

This is terrible journalism too. The entire article gives voice to the ravings of a hack while giving no account of a potential explanation, context or opposing view.

I love how all of these performing trumpanzees ignore all of the evidence of trump committing fraud.

She's actually pretty smart. The problem is that she's an opportunity seeker and a grifter. She'll take any position if it advances her political aspirations. If she thought that being a socialist was the key to political power, she'd suddenly be yelling "defund the police," "tax the rich," and be advocating to protect the environment.

Of course, socialism isn't where she sees her political power coming from so she's full blown MAGA - until MAGA falls out of favor and then she'll be 100% on board with the next big thing.

This is the best summary I could come up with:

She said the judge has failed to honor Trump’s due process rights, concerns that she said are exacerbated by the former president’s position as the front-runner for the presidential nomination.

Engoron issued a partial gag order on Trump last month after he made disparaging remarks about a law clerk on social media and to reporters.

“If Judge Engoron can railroad a billionaire New York businessman, a former President of the United States, and the leading presidential candidate, just imagine what he could do to all New Yorkers,” Stefanik writes.

“All Americans, including political opponents, must receive due process and equal protection under our U.S. and New York Constitutions,” Stefanik wrote.

“Judge Engoron’s disdain for President Trump and his politics are evident, and the Commission must take corrective action to restore a just process and protect our constitutional rights.

Last month, the American Civil Liberties Union argued that the federal judge presiding over Trump’s criminal case over his efforts to overturn the 2020 election had violated his First Amendment rights when issuing a gag order.

The original article contains 659 words, the summary contains 173 words. Saved 74%. I'm a bot and I'm open source!
