This is a Pixar short in the making.

I have a folder on my phone called RPG Memes but I also have one called RPG Ideas. This one sits at the top, favorited, and has ever since I first saw it. I read it occasionally. Despite being really cool it's just... adorable. Especially as someone who would die for a pet that gave a fuck about my existence. No, you don't count Bella you asshole cat. I love her but she sucks.

there is no cat

now feed your god

She gets fed at every 12 on the hour and not a minute before. Although sometimes many minutes after.

She's actually a former streetcat and still pretty young. We don't know how long she was on the streets but she seems to have developed some habits. One is that she's really careful about food. We can fill her bowl overflowing and she will only eat when she needs to. She will eat a bite or two if I come out into the kitchen although I dunno if that's a "Human around, I can trust him" or "Ah, he lives. Food shall be delivered again soon" type deal.

Now if the plate/bowl/whatever is showing any portion at all she gets picky and will look back and forth at you and the dish but will eventually give up and eat.

She annoys me for a thousand things but astoundingly the one thing she doesn't is food. Treats either. If I take them out she gets excited but she doesn't try to get at the treats, even if I leave them out in the open.

She's AWFUL and smelly and stinky and keeps shoving her ass in my face but I would still die for her.

Not always but in a lot of instances, when cats do that "but I can see the bottom!" thing, it's because the bowl may be too small and their whiskers hit the sides and they don't like it. Some cats are just assholes though lol

What happens to “Bella you asshole cat you don’t count”?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Still stands. The full context of that was "A pet who cares about my existence". I don't know if she actually cares about me or not when she's eating. Hell, she could be eating randomly all the time but its just that the extra light is nice so she eats then too.

My two are rescues also, and they are very good about food. They eat from the bowl, but they don't overeat. I expected cats that had been so dangerously undernourished as kittens would have overeating disorders, but they are very good.

Because that is no mere cat, that is a queen.

You misspelled bitch.

Well now I need a 15 volume light novel series based on this. That was great.

A Boy And His Blob: Origins.

Thank you so much for sharing the source

I've got to share this with my DnD group

That was everything I wanted!

Do you know what the author means by the jagged seam at the end? For some reason it's not clicking for me.

[–] [email protected] 9 points 1 year ago

The jagged seam is its mouth.

Just a visual cue that the object is actually the mimic

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

It was to tell the reader that the mimic got out too. The same jagged seams as the first time it became a blanket

This was more feels than I was expecting for a tooth brushing read.

Oh, so you're from the Counterweight Continent? What's it like over there?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

Also know as the Aurient, because of all the gold.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 year ago

That was adorable.

A pet mimic would be pretty handy.

Unfortunately, I imagine it would end like a pet chimpanzee; your face being ripped off and your genitals eaten.

[–] [email protected] 14 points 1 year ago

Mimics are definitely under-utilized. I wrote a story about a hedge knight famous for his wooden and extremely sticky armor. The knight was a mild-mannered timid guy while the mimic was ravenous and hungry, so it was like a little shop of horrors dynamic.

Tired-brain reading comprehension made me think this was a prompt in the sense that an LLM answered it, and-- did anyone else read Asimov's short story, Cal?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

In my campaign the party came across a magic item seller who had two juvenile mimics in a terrarium in his shop. This is now canon for how he met his first mimic.
