This made me laugh, which hurt my head, but I still appreciate it

Drink a bit more water than usual and massage some pressure points on your hands and feet.

Stepping outside to breathe in the outdoor air also helps. A short walk if you can is also good.

Thanks. I've been dealing with migraines for a couple decades and have a few tricks as well.

Oh .... I have a few friends like that and I know that when its bad ... its bad ... hopefully I distracted you from it for a while ... stay well my friend

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago (1 children)

You did indeed. Thank you.

Looks like it's my turn for misery .... I'm middle aged and suffering from the first early signs of rheumatoid arthritis .. I felt a tiny tinge of pain when I chatted with you last ... now my arms feel like this

We all seem to live in a world of pain ... it's just a matter of when, where and how we will be affected by it

Growing old sucks

I'm middle aged as well, so I understand. I'm very very sorry :(

I can't work physically or even mentally right now because of the pain ... seated at my desk with very comfortable arm rests to stabilize my arms is the only position I can manage right now ... on the bright side, sitting still is making my go through a marathon watch of Star Trek: Discovery ... I was only up to five episodes ... now I'm almost finished season one ... my spore drive has broken down but hopefully, I'll make it back to my normal universe again soon. Your sympathy is much appreciated ... stay well my friend.

I hope you have a good Rheumatologist to help you through it. I tried dealing with my migraines along for 2 decades. Finally seeing a specialist did wonders. I'm glad you have a small amount of distraction in the mean time.

... stay well as well.

Migrains are terrible. Hope you feel better soon. I had a bad one last week.

Don't we all just know it.

Me when I have a migraine

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago (2 children)

Sorry buddy. I have cluster headaches and I know how debilitating they are. Seems new treatment for migraines is on its way, hopefully sooner than later.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Fuck cluster headaches too. I'm sorry for you as well. I've tried many migraine treatments. None work very well. Crossing my fingers.

My wife was given vitamin B2 (400mg) to try to combat her migraines, she had a weird reaction (possibly a series of things unrelated) and got hives, so didn't follow through, but I figured to pass along the possibly unconventional Med suggestion. (Also takes topiramate)

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I was on Topiramate for a short while. It worked super well for the migraines, but I couldn't sleep for days at a time. I didn't last long on that one. I'm currently using Qulipta (preventative) and Ubrelvy (abortive)

Have you tried shrooms? Genuinely curious. And I don't mean that as a suggestion, I'm just wondering because I've read that psilocybin can dramatically improve symptoms for some people.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

I had tried microdosing before but no good. A tank of oxygen was another treatment. Just not much you can do when the pain is a real 10. Thankfully it does seem you grow out of it. Since I hit my 30s the space between attacks grew and now in my 40s it's no longer 2x a day but a short period every other year. I still follow treatments just in case my son has those genes.

I've considered psilocybin. Bonus that it's now legal in Colorado. I'll have to investigate that some more.

Migraines trying to get my attention:

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I'm so glad I don't get migraines. I know how shitty they are just by seeing people affected by them my whole life. I feel for you.

I'm really sorry. Just to offer a little hope, a friend of mine at church was beset with almost daily migraines when she hit retirement age, if you can believe that. Several years of trying everything, and a hail Mary pass trying amitriptyline of all things finally calmed them down. She still has mild symptoms when weather fronts roll through, but it's much improved.

I really hope you find something that works well for you. Migraines suck.

My mom had these all her life and only in recent years got some semi effective meds. I've had them on and off for a while and for a month had cluster headaches, no fun.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Strong coffee really help with my migraine. Use as little sugar (or any sweetener) as possible.

But then, when you're addicted to caffeine, that bring a whole different kinds of headache LOL.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

I get terrible migraines. They got so bad that I have to get a monthly injection to keep them at bay.

From my experience of migraines, if you can look at a screen, you're not having a migraine

I'll be sure to tell my neurologist about your knowledge here.
