Highlights: The new bra in Kim Kardashian’s lingerie range, with its “daring” raised nipple detail, goes on sale on Halloween, but not, I think, because the effect she’s going for is “scary”. The sales pitch is “No matter how hot it is, you will always look cold”, but I’m not sure “cold” is the look she’s really after, either; the word “perky” has also been floated. Kim is offering you the chance to look permanently turned on, by everything. You could be ambling along with nothing on your mind but a knotty Wordle and half a to-do list, and thanks to the Skims perky bra, sprinkle random erotic charge all over everything. Would this make your day better, or worse? Hard to say, but definitely different.

It really bothers me that standard human anatomy is so sexualised like this. Pointy nipples are not a sign you're turned on.

All this equivalency does is invite harrassment and gross behaviour, there is no upside.

I was going to say.

Do people think that nipples are like penises, in that regard?

But I suppose any news article like this is supposed to draw people in with sensationalism and, just.. really shitty tactics, I guess.

Not even penises are like that (even if the correlation is stronger)

A guy can be hard but not turned on and a guy can be soft while really horny

It's not 100% related

I have a penis and I can confirm it's true.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

It is far more likely that those cases would be true than false however.

I've always called nipples "melon peckers". I guess that wasn't an accurate term.

People are sexual

Thanks to this article, I got reminded to port over the rest of my "blocked words" list :D

What? Kim Kardashian doing something utterly tasteless and trashy? Never.

[–] [email protected] 26 points 1 year ago (1 children)

And when it really does get chilly, people are trying not to stare at your four nipples.

[–] [email protected] 3 points 1 year ago

Over-nippled.

omg no. I specifically buy bras that do NOT show this. To each their own, but personally it makes me feel so uncomfortable if I notice that’s going on.

I once went to work with no bra after recently getting a tattoo on my back and trying to let it heal. I wore 3 layers, including a thick fleece vest, and you could still see my nipples through it all. Ended up going home and putting a bra on. :|

bras are supposed to hide nipples not add two fake ones

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Well apparently this one wants it to appear as if they are not.

When I was in high school I had a girlfriend who had the brilliant idea to cut a hole in the bra cup so her nipples would be more visible. Didn't realize she was such a visionary.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 year ago

That is the exact opposite look most bra wearers go for.

Am I barking up the wrong tree here, but isn't this like, the hypersexualisation of women that I keep hearing about? Being perpetuated by.. a woman, who will sell loads of these to her adoring woman fans...

This is very strange to me.

[–] [email protected] 28 points 1 year ago

Women aren't a hivemind. Some women are fully onboard with hypersexualisation...

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

There's a difference between men objectifying women, and women being sexual in their own way. We CAN avoid the former while allowing the latter.

Is that Kim in the picture? If so, she's completely unrecognizable now. She's had so much surgery that she looks nothing like her actual self.

Did we learn nothing from the Batnipples debacle?

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

In the 80s, I think, someone else marketed a bra exactly like this. I don't remember it catching on.

[–] [email protected] 5 points 1 year ago

I guess people forgot fake nipples?

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Can somebody please remind her that bullet bras were a thing? cause tbh I would be fully onboard with those making a comeback

Whatever one thinks of this, we all owe Joel Schumacher an apology.

We should always support new inventions. Not everything you think is silly is actually bad. I for once welcome this new bra.

Guys... it's just a bra.
