They said the same thing about helmets and face guards in the 70s and 2010s. Stay safe out there!
Yeah this happened to Richard Zednik some time ago. It was pretty freaky to see the blood gush from his neck.
Happened to Clint Malarchuk many years ago. His whole story is fascinating and I’ve heard his book is a good read.
That video still haunts me. He is VERY lucky to be alive.
Morgan Barron (Wpg Jets) got 75 stitches in April.
But the neck getting slashed has got to be a player's worst nightmare.

Do you have a source for that? I saw some people saying this, but never a source to go with it, just speculation.
Edit: yes, this has been confirmed. The comments asking for sources were from before any confirmation could be found.

Shit that’s scary and always a fear of mine when watching hockey. Hope everything is ok, it’s not a common injury but it’s happened to a few players over the years and they’ve pulled through

I looked it up. I've seen lots of genuinely horrifying things on the internet, and this tops all of it for me. I fully regret seeking it out.
I just ordered a neck guard for my beer league games.
I dunno maybe it's because I've seen people spun into red mist but this was sad not really disturbing.
