Back in the day, my stepdad worked overseas so we found ourselves at the airport quite often. Remember how they used to have those courtesy phones where you pick up, talk to an operator, and ask them to make an announcement in the airport to have someone pickup and connect you?

My brother and I would go to those phones and request that they page Reverend Maynard James Keenan. Then they'd announce over the intercom "Reverend Maynard James Keenan please pickup a white courtesy phone. Reverend Maynard James Keenan please pickup a white courtesy phone." Then we'd lose our minds laughing. I don't know why we thought it was so funny, but hopefully some other Tool fans at the time were walking through the airport and did a double take.

Kamala sis the during the debate and it worked much better than I expected. She was basically like "yeah everything this guy just said is bullshit. Anyway, here's what I'm going to do."

I went back to Voyager for the time being. It's similar to Sync that it should do the trick until LJ hopefully sees the bug and gets a fix out.

Yeah if you look at that GitHub link in the other comment, it mentions that a Lemmy variable was renamed in the latest release. So there's nothing that we, as users, can do. It needs a code change.

Edit: Didn't see your other comments. Looks like you already understood the issue.

Issue is documented here. https://github.com/laurencedawson/sync-for-lemmy/issues/539

I'm guessing this will become more of a problem once some of the big instances like lemmy.world upgrade to Lemmy 19.5.

Cross posting this from https://sh.itjust.works/post/25548740

There's an issue with posts not showing as read on newer instances of Lemmy.

Ah that explains it. Thanks!

I've been using Sync for Lemmy for a year or so, but very recently (within the last day or so) links have stopped showing as read when I click on them and then go back. I tested this with a lemmy.world account and don't have the same problem.

I saw a post saying sh.itjust.works was updating to Lemmy v19.5 a few days ago. I'm wondering if maybe it caused a problem or if it's just me having this issue.

Thanks

My amortization schedule doesn't go out that far. Let's just say that the dude is rich.

I know you're joking, but people really underestimate just how rich Elon Musk and other billionaires are. Say you went back to the time of Christ, 0 AD, and got a really good job. Say you were making $10,000 a day, in today's dollars. $10,000 a day, every day, no days off. What's even more amazing, say you were super good at saving. So good that you squirreled that $10,000 away every day without spending a penny. And you did that every day, for the last 2,000 some years (good for you for being immortal as well).

If you did all that, and then did it another 34 times, you would almost have as much money as Elon Musk.

I had a business professor who used "value add" constantly, to the point that I still can't hear that 20 years later without cringing. Our final project in his class was something like "look at a business and find a place where you can value add." That was literally all the guidance we got.

At the time, the Russians probably thought they were so smart. "Stupid Americans spending billions on new fighter planes... Oh wait, shit."

I feel like once you hit your 40s, you really start to understand that concept of your body only being evolved enough to ensure that you can reproduce and the next generation survives.

In your 40s and you hurt your knee? Fuck you, your knee now hurts for the rest of your life - why aren't you dead already?

I had a conversation with my conservative neighbor who legitimately made this argument. He was saying that it's the left's fault for telling all these young conservative men that they're Nazis, which makes those poor impressionable young men go "well if you're going to call me a fascist then I'm going to fascist even harder just to spite you."
