This isn't funny. I'm not saying it's not good. I'm just saying I need to cry now.

I think the "undeniable beauty" bit was a joke.

I think she has a good point at the end. Lots of us think we have skills that can't be replicated by a machine, but companies would rather have something replicated poorly by a machine if it saves them money.

Pizza Peacemaker. If you're with a bunch of people with varying tastes and want to order pizza, you open the app and pass your phone around. Each person in turn puts in what they like and how much they want to eat. At the end the app tells you what you should order and how you should split the bill.

Whenever someone replies to one of my (witty, always genius) comments their comment stays "unread" in the notifications/inbix tab, with a red dot on the bell in the bottom left of the main UI.

I think they only get marked as read if someone else replies to them or if I go into lemmy in my browser to Mark As Read.

With what money, Elon? You can't afford to pay Google or office rent but you're going to pay Mr. Beast?

Younger folks have been raised on apps and other polished devices with oodles of effort put into UX design.

Older folks grew up learning DOS commands, memorizing the IRQ of their sound card, and other clunky shenanigans.

In their current state Lemmy, Mastodon and other services are too complicated for most young folks to bother with. Not all, but most, especially the filthy casuals.

I can write standalone comments, but can't figure out how to reply to someone else's. When I tap and hold on their post or tap the ellipsis, I only have options to copy text or report.
