I have a feeling that if they held a popular vote in which everyone was forced to respond, the overwhelming majority would choose to use their tax money in another way

Not in most of the Europe, 74 percent of Europeans support EU’s backing for Ukraine.

I see, now I'm not saying that this poll is BS but we cant point to polls as a sure indication of all people in an area feeling the same way. There is a great book by Darrell Huff called How To Lie With Statistics that I recommend everyone read before taking polls as the end all be all for the publics sentiment on a certain topic. This is not to mention the inherent issues there are with polls themselves which can skew the data one way or the other.

Aside from the above, yes you are right, there are a lot of people in the EU who support sending money to the Ukraine.

I completely agree with you about polls being flawed tool at best, but the general sentiment in Europe is defintely in favor of Ukraine both vocally and financially. The support varies per different countries, but apart from Hungary who are very pro-russian the whole block supports them in majority.

I want to thank you for having a civil discussion with me and not getting angry, harder and harder to find online these days.
