Chat is a text only community for casual conversation, please keep shitposting to the absolute minimum. This is intended to be a separate space from c/chapotraphouse or the daily megathread. Chat does this by being a long-form community where topics will remain from day to day unlike the megathread, and it is distinct from c/chapotraphouse in that we ask you to engage in this community in a genuine way. Please keep shitposting, bits, and irony to a minimum.

As with all communities posts need to abide by the code of conduct, additionally moderators will remove any posts or comments deemed to be inappropriate.

Thank you and happy chatting!

We can understand the wrong we do, and yet we still do it.

Animals are innocent.

i think animals understand more than we think, and we understand less than we think. we are products of our environment too, somewhat.

I doubt they have the same ability to understand the world and their impact on it. They don't have written knowledge or education systems. My point is that as humans we have this huge store of shared knowledge and experience that spend millennia, and yet despite all of this we still insist on treating each other and the world like complete shit.

Cats, dogs and animals in general do not have that, and to suggest that they do is laughable. They are innocent in that they simply do what their instincts and personal life experience has taught them.

Thats a good point, but despite humans ability to think, I see many people living life just like that: Relying on their instincts and recent life experience without a drop of tought beyond that.

Maybe some are living obliviously, but they can learn, and the fact that they haven't is the rest of our faults
