You're getting your countries mixed up. The US puppet regime in Kiev was the one that bombed Donbas's civilian population after coup'ing the original government.
That wasn't Russia. Hell, the Russian army was welcomed by the Donbas people as liberators when the SMO started in 2022.

so far putin has only captured the part of Ukraine that the Ukraine govt was bombing for 7 years. Seemed like they didnt want eastern Ukraine that much.
