Rosa Parks, born on the 4th of February in 1913, was an American activist in the civil rights movement best known for her pivotal role in the Montgomery Bus Boycott. U.S. Congress has called her "the first lady of civil rights" and "the mother of the freedom movement".

Parks was not the first person to resist bus segregation in Montgomery, but the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) believed that she was the best candidate for seeing through a court challenge after her 1955 arrest for refusing to give up her bus seat for a white person.

According to historian Dr. Casey Nichols, following this arrest, Parks immediately contacted local NAACP president E.D. Nixon and informed him of her arrest. Within hours, the Women’s Political Council (WPC), formed in 1946 to address the grievances of black bus patrons in Montgomery, sprang into action, printing flyers, phoning potential supporters, and organizing carpools.

The boycott succeeded in 1957 after the Supreme Court declared bus segregation unconstitutional. Parks' act of defiance and the Montgomery bus boycott became important symbols of the movement, and she became an international icon of resistance to racial segregation.

After the boycott's conclusion, Parks moved to Detroit, Michigan and began working as an assistant to Detroit Congressman John Conyers. She has received numerous honors, including over 40 honorary degrees, the Medal of Freedom, the Congressional Gold Medal of Honor, and two NAACP image awards. In 2002, Parks produced a biographical film titled “The Rosa Parks Story.”

Does anyone have any experience with fixing snoring? I have found myself in a new sleeping arrangement and there have been complaints. Do the mouthguards work? The tape don't seem to from what I can see.

CPAP is the only thing I’ve seen work for like really loud ass snorers. ~~I don’t know if you have to go through all the sleep testing and shit like you can probably just buy a used one on eBay or something.~~

If we’re not going that route, silicone or, if cash allows, custom fitted earplugs for the victim go a looong way. That said apnea is nothing to fuck with so ignoring it isn’t the best move.

My wife snores and I’m a very light sleeper so this topic is near and dear to my heart lol

Edit: apparently the machines have pressure settings and stuff so just buying one might not be the best route. This is a good thread on reddit-logo

I just saw some case reports about improperly maintained cpap machines being a health hazard as well

Yeah they have to be sanitized. That thread has a couple of resources for companies that mail you an at home test and stuff so it’s faster and less expensive. If I were a crazy loud snorer that’s what I would do. One of them even does the mouth guards, I think it’s bluesleep but not available in all states

Nose strips can help, but you may try to get tested for sleep apnea if you are able. Several snoring friends have been tested, got a CPAP machine, and are thriving now

I know it that is the suspicion. At very least it will become that later in life. I don't have any of the other symptoms. I didn't have jank ass sinuses that would be a bigger concern at the momemt

my sleep apnea is sensitive to my sleeping positions. according to sleep specialist i saw, when i sleep on my back (instead of my stomach or side) my apnea is much worse, like by more than double. if you typically sleep on your back, you could try changing your sleep position?

i'm treating my mild obstructice sleep apnea with mouthguard/retainer thing called a mandibular advancement device. i got it through my dentist though, so it wasn't an over the counter thing. it works well for me, but it was really expensive and i got fucked by my insurance: Based on my results from an overnight sleep study, my doctor recommended a CPAP or the MAD, but the insurance company said my score wasn't severe enough for the treatment to be covered... I only found this out after I paid 3k out of pocket for the MAD. Universal health care btw kkkanada

i have no idea if there are other over the counter alternatives.

i know CPAP is the gold standard. Most docs I know don't recommend the nose strips, because the snoring is usually caused by obstruction in your throat, not your nose/sinuses

Try to get enough sleep? I started snoring right after I obtained BG3 because I was going to bed at 2 am every night. When I got bored of BG3 and started going to bed at midnight again the snoring stopped.
