General community for news/discussion in the UK.

Less serious posts should go in [email protected] or [email protected]
More serious politics should go in [email protected].

Try not to spam the same link to multiple feddit.uk communities.
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric news, and should be either a link to a reputable source, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread.

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

It's almost like we shouldn't be breeding animals like this and then eating them.

You have a point, but in such a heavily populated society, the alternatives are either only eating hunted meat (not enough wild animals to support current levels of consumption) or to convince society to go vegan (an extremely hard sell).

Another option is that we could eat less meat, which would allow for higher health and welfare standards to be implemented on farms.

I disagree on the hard sell on going vegan, as I'm biased, but i also was a huge meat eater before I made the change about 6 years ago.

You will obviously be able to convince a few people but probably not a majority of people.

I really can't wait the lab grown meat industry to take off. Mass produced wagyu t-bones will be amazing!
