Furries were invented in 1976.
And were originally associated with smutty comics/ advertisements! Basically animal pinups that were supposed to be edgy.
I'm not even a furry, but I really loved this video about it. (It's long form)
I had to explain this to a coworker 10-years ago and she thought I was fucking with her.
"Go Google 'furry', but do it on your own PC. Can't swear what you might see."
