Headphone jack on desktop PC snapped when I tripped over my headphone cable. It's broken (tho could be fixed as it works with tape). How can I configure one of the other jacks to work with headphones? (lemmy.world)

Headphones Out is an amplified signal - it's powering the headphones

Line out is an unamplified signal - it's to connect to an externally powered amplifier

You might be SOL here unfortunately

Could also buy an external headphone amplifier and use the line out. Audiophiles will tell you the onboard amplifier is shit anyways.

Yeah I meant as far as rerouting the signals. A USB headphone adapter is cheap and will get the job done for sure
