I've been reading reviews and when it comes to the HDR feature, nobody really says much more than "It does HDR!"

Has anyone seen anything on the QUALITY of the HDR? Because it really does seem to be screen dependent.

I have a 4K and 8K Samsung television and I've had to disable HDR on every device connected to them because the picture is dark, muddy, and borderline unwatchable.

I would hope Valve's implenentation would be better, because, well, frankly, anyone will be better than what Samsung is doing.

Examples of what I'm talking about:

HDR On:

HDR Off:

Are you streaming or using a device like a computer or console? If you are streaming the content needs to be in HDR or it will look weird like that. I think Hulu is the only service that doesn’t support it currently.

Since you have an 8k it’s probably pretty new and should detect that though.

Have you looked up a settings guide for your TV? Generally when I get a new TV I look up a guide and need to tweak every advanced setting before it looks great. People spend hours on that stuff. After doing that I definitely notice a difference

Like I say, it's a known Samsung problem. And, yeah, streaming, blu ray, 4K blu ray it's all the same. Dark and unwatchable unless HDR is disabled.
