General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both [email protected] and [email protected] .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.

Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.

Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.

If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)

Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.

Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.

[email protected] appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

Maybe someone can explain that claim: Despite the promises made for it by Cameron, Alexander and others, the bank has become, he claims, “basically a hundred billion additional dollars funded by Western countries, including the UK, that buys China geopolitical credit”.

Because it doesn‘t mention anywhere else that the loans are funded by western money. Maybe I am missing something?

the problem is the China-UK investment fund which Cameron is vice chair of. Its supported by the World Bank. This fund will be a mixture of chinese and Uk funds and has prominent UK figures as its front facing members to persuade smaller countries who trust the UK to sign up for funding. The UK depositors and investors in the world bank will get a return, fairly typical stuff but the article is claiming that actually the presence of UK figures disguises the role of the CCP. The whistleblower is making the claim that while the World Bank is trying to be impartial and non-political in its state projects, whats actually happening is China is using our leaders and prominent figures to enslave states into debt, and so to gain political power over them.

This isnt in a vacumn either, in another part of the world the Chinese state builds hydro electric dams up-river to control the water supply into India and the Alps in order to gain political leverage over neighbours, to vote this way or that or to sign deals they otherwise wouldnt.
