I downloaded the game from soft32 (this file used to work on the old days). I installed both WINE and Lutris, but the game runs like sh**t. I get .NET and Vulkan errors from Lutris&WINE. Can you give me a newbie friendly guide for the right way? I'm tired of scrapping the web and it doesn't help that I have limited data.
My system:
Device: HP 15 Notebook PC i5-4210U
OS: Ubuntu MATE (basically ubuntu 22.04)
GPU: Intel® HD Graphics 4400 (integrated) & Nvidia GeForce 820M (I'm not even sure which of them I'm using).

I know you are asking for cs 1.6, but do you know counter strike 2 is free on steam and have compatibility with Linux?

LooL didn't know this. But anyway my PC is considered Potato, and I'm posting to get a safe example guide for Linux Piracy.

This is the MINIMUM: OS: Ubuntu 20.04 Processor: 4 hardware CPU threads - Intel® Core™ i5 750 or higher Memory: 8 GB RAM Graphics: AMD GCN+ or NVIDIA Kepler+ with up-to-date Vulkan drivers. Support for VK_EXT_graphics_pipeline_library highly recommended. Storage: 85 GB available space Sound Card: Highly recommended

You should try with your CPU and GPU

I think you're right about this. especially since I have some data left in my plan.

It's still a little buggy and lacks many of the CSGO features, I just wish they didn't disable CSGO that early, that worked great!

lacks many of the CSGO features,

Well, the OP is not trying to play CSGO.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago (1 children)

They didn't disable it, you can roll back to csgo in the steam options

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Hmmm, I definitely have to look into that!

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago

Some of the community servers are still running on the legacy CSGO thing

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Wait, what happened to CS:GO?

I only tried playing it twice, but it really didn't like running on my computer.

[–] [email protected] 6 points 1 year ago

Counter Strike 2 replaced it.

Maybe it's better now but cs2 had like 50% worse FPS on Linux compared to Windows on launch. Mesa driver users also reported smokes being invisible sometimes. It'll probably get ironed out though if it hasn't already

Yeah there's no change in that regard. They're not making the servers closed down any time soon

Haven't played it yet but if it's anything like go I would go back to cs 1.6 too
