I love Yukon golds, but i think these make a much better roasting/baking potato, while yukons are better for mashed potatoes. These are similar in texture, but the purple ones have this extra earthy/nutty flavor and it taste very different than most other potatoes I have had. I think the purple ones are considered sweet potatoes, but they arent really sweet at all
