What's worse is many that made Reddit...well Reddit. They will NOT be back. 100% loss. I do find it fascinating that a CEO of such a large platform is so daft and all I can think is the old cliche, "Won the battle but lost the war!" as Huffman's "Muhahaha" celebration circles the financial drain. ๐โโฌ
It'll be interesting to see how this all shakes out. I think you're right -- the genie is out of the bottle, and people are now curious what else exists. IMO the decentralized that Lemmy uses (which this server runs on, just like Mastodon) is great and has huge potential. It just needs to be more user friendly and have some nice mobile apps.
