When I have this discussion with any Danes, basically every time they call me pretty much insane for saying that I will always choose Lidl over Netto. Supermarkets in Denmark in general are quite bad, with little choice, poor quality, products not in stock, but I generally think the foreign ones like Lidl or Rema 1000 have a better standards and a little more interesting range of products. So what is yours?

PS: I wish we had ICA here

I agree with you.

I have tried Lidl but I have never understood it. It seems mostly discount for me.

Somehow our Irma is still up and running. So is our Meny. These are the two closest supermarkets but absolutely also our favourites. They actually have a lot in common. To be honest I maybe prefer Meny a little bit Irma has some cool products (their yogurt and chicken for instance is better, hope they carry these items with them to the new chain).

Supposedly the Irmas still in operation are the ones that will be merged with Kvickly and Superbrugsen eventually. But according to the staff at my closest surviving Irma they are getting mixed signals from above and no one seems quite sure what the plan is.

Meny supermarkets are typically a lot bigger and has a much wider selection than a typical Irma.

But Meny is also more expensive than Irma and has very little ecological stuff.

Lidl is definitely discount, but I think of it as some kind of high end discount - the one closest to me is always clean and never messy, has some quite nice products that are different from other supermarkets, their vegetables are always fresh and the bake off is quite ok.
