When I have this discussion with any Danes, basically every time they call me pretty much insane for saying that I will always choose Lidl over Netto. Supermarkets in Denmark in general are quite bad, with little choice, poor quality, products not in stock, but I generally think the foreign ones like Lidl or Rema 1000 have a better standards and a little more interesting range of products. So what is yours?

PS: I wish we had ICA here

Lidl is good and cheap, but some of there store brand products are bad. Nothing compete with them in bakeoff tho.

Rema is cheap for stables, but very limited range.

Netto pretends it is still cheap, but i see you!

Føtex got range like SuperBrugsen but is cheaper.

Salling pretends to be Irma i guess?

Aldi is somehow still around? How long does it take to die?!?

Menu is expensive, but the larger ones have huge range, and very good products. The only standard grocery store i buy fresh fish in!

Løvbjerg usually have good offers but it always too far away.

Bilka makes sense of you have more than 50 children, i guess

Spar has good offers, but generally not a place to go.

Coop365 is horrible to say, but pretty much the same spot as Rema

I live right next to an Aldi. It's so friggin annoying 'cause it's the closest supermarket but it's empty, crappy and useless. I'm happy if I can even get toilet paper and milk there. Just close already! 😤

Part of the deal was, that they keep the shops open until they are ready to move in with the new. I guess it’s sort of to keep the “regulars”, but it doesn’t work if they stop is empty.

That's spar. Some just changed the name.

SPAR og Min Købmand er 2 forskellige kæder, men begge ejet af Dagrofa.

You do realize that every shop that is now a min købmand was a spar before right? XD

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Mudderfjer at 2023-08-16 16:24:27+00:00 ID: jwg7azj

Yes, but that still does not change the fact that Min Købmand is not SPAR?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

KamenRiderXD at 2023-08-16 16:25:10+00:00 ID: jwg7fgy

Then why did they not move out any inventory or change their staff?

I fully acknowlegde their heritage from SPAR, and that they have a somewhat similar value proposition with being local, fairly cheap etc.

But they are to be perceived as 2 different chains. This article talks into that fact:

Still wierd how literally nothing in the store changes except the name and its somehow different.

Same staff. Same layout. Same wares.

I have never once heard anyone refer to min købmand or spar as cheap. The only thing I can think of is that on Thursdays there is franskbrød and warm leverpostej for 30kr. Normally a warm leverpostej costs 25. So that's pretty good.

Other than that.. 5-10kr more expensive on nearly everything compared to our local Netto or Coop.

Maybe weird, but it’s called branding. A t-shirt from H&M and a t-shirt from Gucci is probably made from the same fabric, same fit, same colour, but they are branded different.

I write “somewhat cheap”, but fair play if you wanna go there. I guess they are somewhere in the middle, not Lidl cheap but not MENY expensive 😊

Did you know Spar is Dutch and means pine-tree.

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago (1 children)

KamenRiderXD at 2023-08-16 18:00:21+00:00 ID: jwgnkfl

Nope I didn't. Their logo is of a club which is called spar in Danish so that made sense to me.

FridaKforKahlo at 2023-08-16 19:14:22+00:00 ID: jwh026m

Nope. The logo is a pine tree (look it up) because as mentioned before, spar means pine tree

I literally wrote Nope I didn't. To someone asking me if I knew something.

So clearly I did.

What kind of mental gymnastics are you doing here?

[–] [email protected] 1 points 1 year ago

FridaKforKahlo at 2023-08-16 20:16:51+00:00 ID: jwhak0f

You only acknowledged that you didn’t know where the name came from. Nothing about the logo other than it looking like a club. Maybe you meant to, but it wasn’t phrased in a way I could understand.

I thought spar is from Germany. We have a lot of them in Hungary, I used to shop in them a lot while still living in Budapest. Now I mostly use Coop365, rema and meny (latter for some quality stuff)

Også a-z, men tænkte ikke rigtig den var værd at nævne

And kvickley, the best imo. A bit expensive but good produkts

Netto pretends it is still cheap, but i see you!

To be honest, Netto, Rema and Lidl are all pretty similar price wise. There are a couple of Rema's own brands that are sometimes cheaper (Pesto I believe) but differences are rather marginal.

kvickly, okay products but expensive as hell

Also Super Brugsen … the ones I’ve visited seemed to have a subset of the same stuff as Kvickly, but just more expensive somehow

yes they're also working on merging them to one chain, just coop.

Kvickly, in the back of the shopping mall, so people see the other stores and maybe go there instead of shopping online

Might be a better fit

Salling is more like magasin. It’s not really a super market

It's funny we have two coop365 one is horrible shelfs always empty and boxes all over the store, and the other is really good, always full and neatly arranged.
