Gritty puck from the Hockey Hall of Fame

My wife picked up this puck at the Hockey Hall of Fame last week. I think there's something odd about Gritty...she disagrees. Not saying what it is so as not to bias you. I'd like to get a ruling from the internet on this, please!
He doesn't look nearly as deranged as he should.
I think it looks like he's wearing glasses.
I think they just wanted to try to give him big bushy eyebrows, but yeah he's kinda in sexy librarian territory
