Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers have agreed to a three-year, $192.9 million maximum contract extension that guarantees the former MVP a total of $299.5 million through the 2028-29 season, sources told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

His next contracts are $51.4 million for 2024, $55.2 million for 2025. His player option is $59 million for 2026.

The $192.9 million is on average about $64.3 million. This beats Tatum's and Curry's extensions which is under $63 million.

That's just how NBA contracts work now. Whoever signs the next Max contract will beat this one.

Yes. Keeps him under contract to 2028-29 season, when he'll be 35. Player option for 28-29. He's got one last big pay day when he's 34. Not bad for him nor 76ers, in case Joel's knees give out prematurely. Not bad for Joel, since he can get an even fatter contract sooner.
