RULES:

I am looking for mods!

1. The "good" part of our community means we are pro-empathy and anti-harassment. However, we don't intend to make this a "safe space" where everyone has to be a saint. Sh*t happens, and life is messy. That's why we get things off our chests.

2. Bigotry is not allowed. That includes racism, sexism, ableism, homophobia, transphobia, xenophobia, and religiophobia. (If you want to vent about religion, that's fine; but religion is not inherently evil.)

3. Frustrated, venting, or angry posts are still welcome.

4. Posts and comments that bait, threaten, or incite harassment are not allowed.

5. If anyone offers mental, medical, or professional advice here, please remember to take it with a grain of salt. Seek out real professionals if needed.

6. Please put NSFW behind NSFW tags.

MODERATORS

I forgot how weird and pretty shit Reddit is, since I have been using Lemmy most of the time.

Got iPhone issue, searched for it and got a Reddit thread on the iPhone subreddit. Great but couldn’t fix it. I made a comment something along the lines of “got the same issue, clueless what to do”.

An hour later and got banned for it on the iPhone subreddit lol. They claim, I was “ban evasion”. I double checked my accounts and I have literally never been banned on the iPhone subreddit.

So I’d have to say thanks to them to prove the fact that, I have made the right decision of leaving Reddit.

If you're on cell service and not wifi, it's easy to end up with an originating IP the same as someone else; the same as if you had used a VPN.

This was through PC on cable, so still not sure what caused the ''ban evasion'' message besides the one comment I made lol

Other Redditors in your house? I have also seen people in the same Apartment complex behind CGNAT end up with same IP.

Ban Evasion is usually because they are seeing something on their end, that looks like you're also someone they've banned before. IP address, usually.

There are lots of things nowadays that cause you to share IPv4 addresses because we literally ran out of ones to assign.

It just means some shitheel is sharing the same internet as you. My older daughter got banned from instagram the same way, when her younger sister tried to sign up for it and put her real age. As soon as they saw someone from the same IP sign up as "under 13", the system just went "NOPE, STOP EVERYTHING" and banned every account in use at that IP address.

You weren't banned for the content. You were banned due to some fuzzy network moderation; which is hitting more and more people now as more and more of them share IP address space.
