A body has been found in the search for TV and radio presenter Dr Michael Mosley on the Greek island of Symi.

The 67-year-old went missing on Wednesday after setting off on a walk from Agios Nikolaos beach.

The body - which has yet to be formally identified - was found at a small cliff on the rocky hill north-east of Pedi village, near Agia Marina beach.

Authorities had been searching for Dr Mosley in a remote mountainous area.

Symi's mayor said the body was found as teams were searching the coastline with cameras and were approaching a cave next to Agia Marina beach.

A police source told BBC News the deceased had been dead "for a number of days".

I wonder if there really was something to those rumours about him not being a real doctor and the GMC investigating.

He studied medicine at the Royal Free Hospital Medical School and qualified as a doctor, although he has never practiced. It would only take a phone call to verify.

He certainly studied it for a bit, but he never graduated and has never been on the gmc register. He was in the same year as his wife who graduated in 1986 (she is on the register), he started working for the BBC in 1985....

You may have to state your sources on this one as everything I've seen says he graduated.

He's never practiced so would, presumably, not be on it.

I'm just repeating what was going round on social media a while back. His own account of when he started working for the BBC doesn't line up with him finishing uni.

And all docs go on the gmc register during their final year (known as provisional registration), this is to allow them to do their 'house' jobs.
