Yep! Wonder around, get lost, poke your head in strange places. There's so much to observe and learn! I'd never follow the tourist interary to the letter.
Same goes for being on shore. We got off and wandered the local Bahamian tourist rip offs, then found our way to a quiet beach. The locals were super cool, but of course they were non-stop trying to pry dollars away. Still, it wasn't a tourist beach and it was great fun.
I only went on one cruise, and not looking to do so again anytime soon, but it was a great life experience.
(Remember, you're on lemmy. We loathe cruises and you should die in a fire for even contemplating one.)
