It's been turned off, but the intent is to move move the tower to wherever FMG is next going to need it. It's an FMG asset, belonging to them. They brought it here for their use while they were in the area. They were happy for the few locals to also use it.
I get it - it sure would be nice for it to stay. But the only reason we're even talking about this is that the CEO of FMG is the richest dude in the country and he could afford to buy the tower off FMG and gift it to the community.
Speaking of: the article doesn't mention how many people are in this "community". I can't help but wonder whether that omission was intentional. If it's just the one station (and they've only interviewed one person for the piece), we could be talking fewer than 10 non-FMG people being serviced by this tower.
